If the you believe every hue of blue to be generic than you can fuck off, it's no more generic than red or green. No, its your autistic reaction to "human" colours that's the problem, the shades compliment the over colour palette of the pony, if they were all different shades brown they would stand out because they would horribly contrast the palette not because their shades of the same "human" colour.

First, their eyes are way more saturated than normal human colors.
Second, eye colors that are close to red or yellow are creepy and normally reserved for villains. Those eye colors look bad to humans because they are normally markers of disease.
