My younger sister is heavily disabled, physically and mentally. Although she's now 21, she's developmentally somewhere between 4 and 10, and unlikely to progress further. Physically, she probably would be older, but we got the GP to put her on puberty blockers, so she doesn't grow too big to easily look after.
I was, essentially, a third parent whilst she was growing up. Except my dad worked away six days a week, so I was almost a second parent. I don't want to do that again.
On top of that, I met my little sister's best friend's mother - a single parent. When the child was born (with visible disabilities), the dad said "Jesus, I knew it would be bad... But she's fucking ginger on top of it.", and then he walked out. I don't want to have to walk out on a long term partner, but I refuse to put up with a disabled child. Once was enough. And I would walk out.
So to avoid that, I'm just going to not have kids. Maybe - MAYBE - go through IVF or something with the clear understanding that if there's issues, we flush it. And I'd definitely consider adopting (at a slightly older age, so you've skipped toilet training), but I'm not really sure on that, other than trying to help someone else who wants a family. But I don't want my own natural kids.
The thread hasn't really changed that - I'd like a family, but I don't really want kids.

Pretty much that. His armor would amplify his spells by several magnitudes. Not that he has many spells to begin with (he has a minor haste spell that the armor would make it feel like the world stopped moving around him for a short time), but enough to get by.
Then his head gear would give him night/infrared/heat vision, in addition to normal and magnified sight.This sounds like a lot but I'm thinking he develops this over years, and that haste spell is something he can only cast like once before it wears him down.
