Celestia and Luna were supposed to be the only two alicorns in all of Equestria, but it went all down the drain after Cadance, Twicorn and Flurryshit
Again, it's not the alicorns themselves, is the fact that they're so "common" now they're not as special as they used to be
Luna and Celestia were set up as godly figures
Cadence was added cause toys but was still a fun and non-intrusive character
Twilight's transformation was about "out of nowhere"
McFlurry was unnessecary
the problem is that when you get too much of something special, it stops being something special. Twilight didn't change all that much by her transformation, it would've kept Alicorns more interesting by having the nature of her magic change and her learn to remaster her now much more potent magic.
Since nothing really changed for her, it gives the impression that alicorns are just taller ponies. This goes directly contray to the godly status of Luna and Celestia.

A lot of novice artists excuse bad anatomy or other mistakes as "Muh style" when its really just wrong. He's implying this is a similar situation.
