I'm going to namefag for a moment just to share some worrysone news I got from a few conversations with Jim Miller, bless his patience.
- This season will have ZERO exploration or lore themes.
- The misleading "Explore Equestria" tag asociated with S06 was something that Hasbro added to the series, without DHX's involvement.
- We will have SOME elements (and maybe locations) from previous seasons, but the keyword here is "SOME". As in, "Very, very, VERY few." because Slice of Life episodes are the current norm for the show.
- The cartoon staff has zero involvement with the movie, so they have no idea how the cartoon will tie to the movie's theme and story.
- At the same time, the cartoon staff has zero idea about what's happening on the IDW comic, as it's being made without their input or consultation so yes, both continuities will clash a lot.
- No, Spike will not get any changes, powerups or wings during this season. Stop pestering him about that.

Okay, I think I get what OP is saying. I don't agree with it, but there's a point behind it.
The idea is more or less the same as when video games decide "Lets make it for Casuals!"
OP is saying that the movie should be made so that random retards off the street who ARE NOT fans of the movie should be able to walk right in, sit down, and watch the movie without having to know anything about the show to understand what's going on: This is what Sony pictures was bitching out hasbro about in the leaked e-mails, in that they were saying "All this shit will CONFUSE PEEEEEEEEEEEOPLE!! Don't make it for the fans, we want to draw in the MAINSTREAM crowd!". Basically, they want to make the movie for people who aren't already fans of the show, because they'll assume that fans of the show will go and see it no matter what, and so they only care about trying to draw in the random non-bronies, the normies.
That being said, hasbro broke ties with sony over that shit, so hopefully this movie will be big on continuity for fans instead.
