I think Hasbro is perfectly content making an episodic show they can rerun and milk for the next 10 years. Actually having progression and continuity had untill recently been something the studios DIDNT want. It helped capture the older demographics they didnt even expect to capture. But they arent the target demographic and this IP will remain just as profitable without continuity and progress.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I still honestly love the show and enjoy it. Sure, Season 6 isn't the best we've had (mid-tier, in my opinion), but pony will never not be amazing. There's still no feeling in the world quite like waking up Saturday morning and watching my weekly dose of horse. Doesn't matter how bad the episode is, it puts a smile on my face.
