Depends how your judging better. Are you judging it based off the writing and art or the fandom?
I personally think the story is more compelling than MLP and the art and animation is good (maybe not as good as MLP as it has a much smaller team and budget).
As for the fandom it will never be as big as MLP but that means the cancerous elements will be relatively less.
