Well thrulls are useless anyway. Feed them to the Eldrazi while parleying with the Phyrexians. Show them the marvels of those fascinating Sliver creatures, how they splice their abilities onto one another so efficiently. They're almost perfect. *Almost*. They seem to be missing a certain something. You're not sure quite what. Then grab the popcorn and watch them tear each other apart and hold up Wrath effect for the lone abomination that arises. As for the Thallids, fuck. Yellowquiet would probably turn them into pets.

No. The titans were trapped in a network of pure mana ley lines that hedron monoliths had redirected from across the planet at them like a net. And then the "fireball" was amplified through yet another could-possibly-fuck-up-the-world machine which did incinerate two of the 3 Eldrazi titans.
tl;dr: the fireball only killed it because it was fueled by the entire planetary mana system
