Step back a second. Look at her as someone born with a talent who worked very hard to develop it. Some of that work involved risk taking and personal injury to become great at what she does. Yet even so her moments of tenderness toward Flutteres outweigh the couple times she's expressed exasperation with her. And she's the first one ready to action when her friends are threatened.

It is kind of true though. The smalltown person with big dreams does have to leave, because their family and friends won't be likely to encourage them, and they can't be realized there anyways. Part of why Rarity had to have a boutique not just in Canterlot, but in Manehattan as well.

Dash and Flutters got equal completion of their arcs this season, with Flutters finally asserting herself without going to extremes and Dash accepting that her desire to be a hotshot on her own was pretty meaningless now that she was part of the hotshot team she'd always dreamed of.
