Honestly does desu. She was telling Starlight about the trick and how she can't do it, Starlight said she could help her do it and she seemed to decide she'd do it on that very day.
There was no requirement for her to actually do it, she just got in and launched herself in the mouth of a manticore.

Also it's a bit of a surprise Ponyville even turned up, given she practically enslaved them last tim
>>
>>27596081
It sure looks like it.
She was relying on something that may never have happened to escape.

So yes, I'm pretty sure she was prepared to face the consequences.

I love this episode for this. They really pushed the fact that Trixie was miserable in this episode.
Explicitly saying Starlight was the only friend she ever had.

The depressive Trixie "I'm so sorry" tour.
Etc...

Way underrated because of butthurt Starlight haters. And because some couldn't stand to see twilight being creepy.

How do you think Trixie's shows have been going over Equestria in general? She had an apology tour that seemed to be gaining interest again, but prior to that she was laughed at everywhere, her Cart was vandalised and she still said "they're all one of those days"

You think people stopped giving her a hard time, or is she still suffering?
>>
>>27597026
I'm sure that her show was mostly to compensate for her lack of friends. (feeling the audience love for her as an artist)

Now that she got one, even if it bombs, and I don't think it will, she will feel a lot better.
>>
>>27596081
Can someone post the gif of Trixie launching to the Manticore and the credits roll?
That gif was uploaded to Derpibooru but the trixiefags of the mods deleted it for "Rule hate thing" or some shit.
>>
>>27597111
Can't find something like that, but if they really did removed it for that reason.
They just lost their sense of humor.

This kind of jokes reminds me of could be found in YTPs.
>>
>>27597058
That's true, I was just wondering how the Ponies of Equestria receive Trixie now.
Her thing with the Ursa Minor became widespread so no one really took her seriously
>>
>>27596081

>>
>>27596081
No.

Just Trixie being an attention horse like always.

Keep in mind she did this stunt while a fucking alicorn was watching, so even if SG hadn't rescued her she would have been saved anyway.
>>
>>27597508
I don't think Twilight knew what Trixie was planning...
So she may see that as part of the act and it would be too late.

I need to re-watch the episode to be sure.
But I'm pretty sure Trixie didn't planned on a pity rescue.
But planed this more as a trust exercise.

And it was made clear that she was completely ravaged by her sadness in stage.
That's not the act you put up if you have a plan in mind.

It wasn't. People forget the manticore swallowed her whole instead of chewing like in the flashback, wasn't that aggressive and even bowed at the end. It would've spit her out. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron.
>>
>>27596081
At the very least she didn't seem to care what happened to her until it was too late to change her mind. Starlight was probably going to help her the whole time, but wasn't sure if she'd ever actually talk to her again. She'd help her with her stunt and then never see her again.

But Trixie didn't know this.

Trixie says to Starlight earlier in the episode tht she'd "be a goner" if Starlight messed up with her magic, pretty sure he chewed at least a bit, since Trixie was in a poor state after the trick
It was unlikely due to the magic because Starlight teleported Trixie earlier in the episode with no issue

Not at all, I actually love this character.
But seeing her in this state of mind is actually building her as a better character.
As she is shown to have feelings and not being completely a self absorbed.
>>

>Way underrated because of butthurt Starlight haters
Like Lily Peet, right?

I mean, I get why they hate Starlight, but you can watch and enjoy an episode even if a character you hate is on center stage. That time they did an "In a Minute" video on the new Hearthswarming episode and it turned out to be one big fat middle finger was INCREDIBLY fucking immature.
>>
Something else to say about this episode.
The name hoofdini is used.
And houdini is known to have performed his last act in agonizing pain.
Then died.

Knowing he was dying and that nothing could save him at this point, he preferred to continue on its act until he dropped.

The show must go on as they say.

The thing about Trixie is that from the looks of it, she didn't advertise anywhere that she was doing this trick. No one expected it to happen, there was no reason she couldn't do any other trick and do the show as originally planned before she met Starlight
But she appeared to willingly choose to do the trick anyway, knowing full well Starlight might not be around and jumped straight into a Manticore's mouth. It wasn't at all safe and does seem that way
>>
>>27598224

STANDING
>>
>>27600670
Ah well, sucks to be them, since they missed out on two good episodes because they're a fucking sperg about Starlight joining the cast.

Yes, Starlight is a poor character. Yes, their redemption and inclusion into the cast is contrived as fuck, but you know what? The writers are doing their damnedest, and working with what they got, and they're certainly trying to make Glimglam an entertaining character to compensate for her being shoehorned into the main cast by order of the higher-ups in Hasbro.

Seriously; you can't look at the S5 season finale and tell me there wasn't executive meddling involved. It's painfully obvious.
>>
To be fair this is the episode that made me like Starlight as a protagonist.
And absolutely love Trixie!

Before this episode I used to think that she was cold and manipulative, and maybe she was!
But now I really can see her motivations for being like that and crave the attention of others.

This makes her a very relatable character for me.

Funny you are the first one to bring that up.
And well yes that's sad...

But we can see the surprise in Twilight's face when she sees Trixie cry.
To be fair, I'm sure she didn't know anything about Trixie's state of mind and misery.
And it's understandable as she put up this very strong facade.

>>27602071

Yes she let some time pass...
I really don't know why it is, but it's what makes this scene extra effective.
One could suppose that she was herself very sadly upset about the last revelations. Delaying her reaction. (or panicking internally)
>>
>>27602148
>But we can see the surprise in Twilight's face when she sees Trixie cry.
Trixie hadn't even started to cry until after Twilight realized she fucked up.
She saw a pony break, and not for the first time, Starlight even said she and Trixie had a bond.
And Twilight broke that, even if temporarily, and a friendship.
And to compound it, Trixies FIRST friendship.

Imagine how that had to hurt, seeing someone who forgave you try to kill our first friendship you thought you could ever make.
>>
>>27601867
How did those retards even get a userbase and power is beyond me.

>>
>>27602442
I'm impressed by the quality of this episode thinking about it.
I know it can be painful to watch some characters we like so much fucking up in such a spectacular way. (thinking about Twilight clearly hating Trixie, thinking she is a very bad influence. Leading to unforeseen consequences.)

But nothing feels out of place for me.
It's legitimate drama.
Very relatable and believable.

Kudos to the writer, Nick something something. I will have to remember his name, because he really does a good job.
>>
>>27602442
Twilight didn't break it, it was more Trixie's unintentional undoing. She had two motives, one less innocent than the other but both came to light

I think people really tend to overblow the strictness of Derbibooru's moderation/userbase. They still allow Aryanne pics after all and generally also shit on SJWs. They just don't like pics being uploaded with the sole purpose of generating drama.

>>27601575
>you can't look at the S5 season finale and tell me there wasn't executive meddling involved
I think Haber just fucked up. It really seems more like a case of not allocating enough time for the resolution and not spending enough time to craft a psychologically well-done and believable backstory than executive meddling (plus a simple pony doesn't seem super toyetic to me). Everyone makes mistakes and this was Haber's first two-parter. I think he just spent more time making the time travel part amazing and neglected the resolution a bit too much. Especially since the "resolving the conflict through discussion and arguments rather than raw power" approach he set up is actually pretty great and hasn't been done enough in the two-parters in my opinion. It's just the backstory that breaks it due to being just a bit too unbelievable (The basics are OK and some people can let the pain trouble their judgement, but in Starlight's case there's just too much that's still possible to lessen the issue).
>>
>>27603727
