This was probably the most feelsy part of the entire season, and with a season that was chalk full of them, that's saying something.
Seeing a guy realize he's losing touch with his baby sister and having all his attempts to reconcile blow up in his face was really sad. Then he shares his feelings of inadequacy and his wish to do more which retroactively makes the funny "Princess Mac" joke from the dream episode have a bit of a sad twist to it. But it all pays off in the end and him and AB are closer than ever before.
It wins out over Moondancer for me, because while MD's situation was sad it was also largely self-inflicted much like Zephyr's problems. There's also the fact that there were other ponies willing to be friends with her but she was too absorbed in her own misery to notice.
