>A residing wave of reality takes back all reason as the world fades away after the glow of magic, leaving behind an ocean of darkness that threatens to swallow the whole of consciousness.
>Colors appear only briefly, inconsequential specks of shimmering possibilities and days of a forgotten past where entire lifetimes can be seen.
>Fields of green and sunset skies, towering mountains where fire and death slumber for centuries, halls of awe inspiring palaces, bedrooms where fillies and colts enjoy the stories that their parents murmur in under the light of a nightlamp.
>Each glimmer a universe in its own, each a memory in which to dive and seek answers.
>They surround you, fill the void, and you float between them, lost among these false-stars as they multiply, grow, and replace the darkness with their light and their stories.
>Somewhere in it you watch a colt and his friends, the night challenge the dawn, a wizard and his apprentice, a zebra and her craft, a kingdom succumb to the madness of its king …
>You are lured by a special star, one of blinding yellow rather than the peaceful white of casual remembrance or the deep purple of conflict and anguish.
>It is different from the others, not only in its color but in the way it whispers in your mind with the sing-song voice of a robin and the pure emotion of a maiden.
>The words are madness and you can’t understand them, yet they dig through your head with the touch of constricting tendrils.
>You close your eyes, trying to separate yourself from the stars, but they linger behind your eyelids, swimming in your eyes, painting the inside of your skull.
>In the yellow you see a city and the thousand creatures that walk its streets, having silent conversations with one another, trading each other goods and services, enjoying the company of friends and acquaintances.
>You know this place as the Golden Frontier.
>>
>>27392791
>The scene would warm your heart if it weren’t for the way in which they moved, so similar to clouds of fog drifting over a calm sea, and their featureless faces with which they all stare at you with.
>No, not at you, you realize, but at what you are representing in all of this.
>A watcher, a caretaker, a guardian.
>Maybe something else.
>The city grows distant and disappears in the star filled horizon, joining other memories, other pieces that make up the strange realm of recollections and days long past.
>The lights soon shrink into nothingness; one by one they dwindle and die, until only the whispering one remains, a faraway reality for you to reach out before it too disappears and the darkness takes you.

Wake.
>You gasp, the cold midnight air flowing into your lungs as you open your eyes to the sight of tree tops and starlit skies.
>You cough, you tremble, and you despair when you remember the scorching light of Geist’s magic, so unlike the warm and gentle embrace of Twilight’s.
>The cold stings at your wounds and a powerful feeling of nausea and disorientation takes over you as your brain is left rattled from the unusual experience and hard to recall visions.
>It takes only a couple of seconds for your eyes to adjust to the change and for you to recognize the dirt on which you lie and the path that you had walked a couple of days ago, the road that connects Serpent’s Heart to Stripped Tusks.
>The exact place on the path however, is a mystery to you.
>You groan, trying and failing to get on your feet, and Twilight soon appears next to you, worried about you and yet beautiful under the beams of moonlight that pierce the canopy.
>”Are you alright?!”
>Your body still remains beaten and your shredded cloths stuck to it by blood, so you smile reassuringly and lie through your teeth.
“I’ll be fine, I probably look worse than how I actually feel. How is your back?”
>>
>>27392804
>She quickly scans the path and the trees, looking for anything that might give her a sense of direction.
>”Don’t worry about me. It seems Geist teleported us away and placed us back in the forests, although I don’t know how far we might be from the town.”
>Twilight squints at some movement in the darkness and shuffles closer to you.
“Is something wrong?”
>She shakes her head and assures herself that her eyes were playing tricks on her; there truly couldn’t be lights prowling the forests, she had slept in them and hadn’t come across any dangerous creatures.
>Performing the old relaxation technique that Cadence had taught her, she takes a moment to calm her nerves (it was only a bat, Twilight) and focus her mind.
>”We are in the middle of the forest road, unsure of how long it will take us to reach the settlement, Silver is already flying off to Celestia knows where, you are too wounded to travel, and it is all my fault. I’d definitely say that many things are wrong.”
>She lies by your side in defeat and the minutes go by in silence; Twilight knows not what to do and you can’t think of anything that might bring her a measure of comfort.
>You settle on the only course of action that can help her as you stretch out a hand to grab her by the hoof.
>She smiles when you squeeze it.
“We should get off the road and sleep.”
>The cold makes you shiver, the physical toll of your wounds is more than clear to you, and she regretfully notices it.
>”I’ll make us a fire.”
>She lifts you up with her magic as she ventures out of the road and through the trees, finding a space that she deems suitable for the two of you to spend the night and methodically clearing the ground of sticks and rocks before she can safely put you down.
>The trip is short and you find the levitation to be odd and unnerving, especially since you could hardly move.
>>
>>27392810
>You complement her magic though and she dismisses you with a wing, hiding her crimson cheeks away from your sight.
>The two of you remain silent while she gathers materials for a campfire and you stare at her, every once in a while getting a glimpse of her blood stained back and the still healing gash.
>Your body is covered in cuts and bruises, but that gash, almost surgical in its creation and open like a black eye, makes (at least to you) your wounds seem only a trifle matter.
>It reminds you of your troubles.
>Of the gryphon lord and the events that took place at the peak, of his imposing presence and his burning gaze, of the moment you fell into the darkness and took a single bold shot at him.
>Abruptly your attention is broken away from Twilight and memory, turning towards your hip, to the hostler of your revolver, the one that Geist had hold onto before teleporting you away.
>The possibility of your trusty weapon being forever lost in The Spire makes your heart race as you push your coat to the side and crook your neck to see if it had miraculously been returned to you.
>All worry vanishes at the sight of its walnut grip and the quiet glim of silver.
>You notice something else however, an odd bulge on the right front pocket of your pants, round and smooth and solid upon pressing it between your index and thumb.
>A gift, you understand, from the ageless warden, one to hold onto and somehow, you also understand, to keep close and protect.
>It does not speak nor gives you unwelcomed sensations or thoughts, it instead conveys a sliver of gratitude or respect from the warden, and you cherish that.
>Maybe it will come in handy later.
>Twilight completes her task with ease and soon you feel the waves of heat coming off the flames touch you and push away the chilling fingers of the night.
>With the fire done, she takes her place by your side, sitting down as her horn comes alight.
”Don’t. You need to rest and-“
>>
>>27392819
>”Hush. I’ll take care of you first.”
>You don’t argue with her, closing your eyes instead and allowing your mind to wonder to her magic as it burrows into you, working on your wounds, extending into every corner of your body with loving care.
>Thoughts drift and sensations are overcome by her touch, you sigh with pleasure and relief, and before you know it, you are fast asleep while Twilight diligently weaves the tapestry of magic, crying silently as she apologizes to you.

>You wake to the smell of cinders and resin, the sun already up in the sky, and Twilight apparently still casting her healing spells.
“Please tell me that you slept.”
>She nods, a little drowsy and with a distinct lack of energy, continuing her labor.
“Stop. How much did you sleep?”
>Your command breaks her concentration and her horn loses its telltale glow.
>”A couple of hours.”
“How many?”
>She turns, finding a distant tree much easier to look at than your stern eyes.
“How many, Twilight?”
>”Two.”
“Damn it.”
>Her ears drop and so does her head, but she says nothing while still refusing to meet your gaze.
“You need to rest as much as me Twi, you were hurt too.”
>”I can handle it. I need to heal you.”
“No, you don’t. I won’t have you overtax yourself. You have to sleep.”
>”I am fine. It’s not me who needs the care.”
“You need it regardless. Don’t be so headstrong and go to sleep. We both need to recover. You can continue this once you’ve rested properly.”
>”I told you that I can handle it. I am a grown mare and if I chose to heal you rather than sleep then I-“
“Damn it, this isn’t up for discussion!”
>She flinches at your sudden outburst and the severity in your voice, and like a scared child that doesn’t understand what it has done wrong she backs away from you, head hanging and eyes lost.
>You curse and turn to the sky, now clear and soft blue.
>>
>>27392832
>Sleep still lingers at the corners of your eyelids and mind, and you lift a hand to your face in hopes of wiping it away.
>You do so unconsciously, a reflex, and after you massage your temples with your fingertips and pinch the bridge of your nose, you come to the realization that Twilight has not returned to your side.
>Peeking to your right, you find her shrunk and huddling pitifully by one of the trees, gawking heartbreakingly at you.
>It then strikes you that she might have taken your words much too harshly, a possibility that quickly becomes the only explanation.
“Twi…”
>She sniffs and scratches the soft grass with the tip of a hoof, her eyes downcast and lost in the movement of the blades.
>”I’m sorry…”
>Her words come clear but low, she doesn’t sob nor does her voice crack, yet her grief is obvious.
>”I constantly put both of our lives in danger, and you are always the one to suffer the most for it. How can I sleep when you are lying there, covered with reminders of my failures? I couldn’t use my magic the first time, I couldn’t do anything against the Grotesque, but…
>”There was nothing stopping me from using magic in the Spire. I could have blasted them all away, could have casted enough spells to beat every single gryphon long before giving to exhaustion. Celestia, I could have done anything, and instead I did nothing.
>”I was scared, so scared. It was the Everfree all over again but this time I allowed the creature to hurt me –to hurt you-.”
>She scrunches her face in anger, her brow furrowing and her hoof stomping the ground in a tantrum of dejection and self-loathing.
>”Just let me heal you. Stop complaining and let me do what I must. We’ll get to town and you can go back to Ponyville.”
>She does not stutter and when she lifts her head you are met with eyes blazing with conviction.
>It is not an innocent pony that stares at you, but a princess who has made up her mind on the matter.
>>
>>27392839
>You had yelled at her that it was not up for discussion and now her expression was a much more prominent display.
>To her displeasure however, you don’t accept her commands.
“No.”
>”It isn’t your decision. I can still teleport you away or leave you in the town.”
>Your eyes defy her, not with anger but with selfless determination.
“And you think I’ll accept that?”
>”I can fly away much faster than you can walk.”
“You know I’ll follow.”
>”I won’t let you continue with this only to get hurt!”
>She trudges onwards, each step puncturing her resolution, and you watch her, refusing her, challenging her.
>”Just do as I say! You know it is for the best!”
>You spot the shine of angry tears and in them is the truth of her fears and her heartbreak.
>She wants to convince you, to have you accept this as the only course of action and have you turn away on your own, for it is obvious that if push comes to shove, she won’t have the strength to force your journey to end.
>”Anon!”
>Celestia had asked you the reason behind your hunt, a simple question with an answer that you struggle to properly enunciate and is hidden so safely in your heart.
>You think of the question and the answer as you push yourself upwards, fighting against the pain that flashes all over you as you do, ignoring your body’s complains and Twilight shocked expression.
>You manage to stand straight, looking down at her like a knight’s last display of defiance against an undefeatable beast, and she opens her wings to their full span, making a stand of her own.
>It is in the silence of the forest that you two fight, statues that battle with their eyes rather than their mouths.
>None makes a move against the other as your wills clash.
>Your body shakes from the strain but you push through.
>Her feathers flutter in the breeze and her mane is brushed over one eye.
>None move from their place.
>>
>>27392846
>The critters of the forest watch the exchange with no real appreciation for what is going on but they do so lively with wild curiosity.
>You speak and the fight is over.

Welcome back Ziri!
Another 'lore' filled update only raises more questions for me, such as the history and aftermath between Lumen and Starswirl, Geist's separation from Lumen, the vault's treasures, and lastly the relevance of Golden Frontier to everything else.
and cuddles?

So many bumps. Why don't most of you bumpers try writing? Even if you're shit it's better then this sad sight
>>
>>27403379
>Why
well since you asked
mainly because my grammar is shit and inability to form a proper sentence
thats because english is my 2nd language (poor excuse i know)
I polish text too much and never actually post anything, even though i have like 3mb of text on my drive

If you excuse me, I'm going to bump.

Just shoot from the hip and just do it. Even if it's butchering the english language, it's better than nothing. I green a lot and often have mistakes, but english users can use context clues to understand what I'm saying. That's why people can understand Hiro google translate english

I have an idea in my mind but it's not for this thread for sure.
Oh, speaking of which, OP implies that Anon have to be hunter and have to die on Twig's eyes (be on verge of death). Don't you think that's kinda too specific and limiting your options?
>>
>>27403379
>>27404045
Well i did review and rewrite a green way back in the second thread if that counts for anything, but i ve no new green planned thus far that d fit here
Half assing a green into existence usually makes it trash imo so there s that, you can have a great idea but if doesnt have a pinch of quality people will simply drop it

Anyway here s the green if ya really want something to read while waiting for our >white hermano Zirivak

Finally back home!
Long story short, went to see Paul McCartney, traffic was insufferable on the way back, I had to eat while driving and I should have arrived two hours ago.
Originally I was planning on rewriting the latest update but instead I am sitting on my bed, loving the Rarara pics and hating my life.

On the much livelier subject of writing and the thread, I am up for any green you guys might want to post, but you would have to discuss it with OP first, since he is the one who most generously turned the original thread (which I guess was intended to bait sad green but brought about this abomination of mine) into a Hunter Anon thread since most of the people that lurked it seemed to be there mostly for this green.
I'd suggest, if you guys approve and it is to your general interest, to turn this thread into something like Adventure Anon or something like that so that you guys can also post your adventuring AiE (if it is what you want, otherwise I'm speaking nonsense and you should disregard this as the rumblings of a man who is in dire need of sleep).

I'm sorry! They wouldn't have to bump if I wrote faster!
The story started 2 months ago and is by now 107,000 words long. Don't know if that is good progress or not, but I still feel terrible each time I update late. Like right now.

>>27403423
That is me.
That is basically me every single time I write anything.
I always hate what I write but I know that I can't improve unless I push through the feelings of disgust towards the amalgamations of words that I lovingly call "my stories".
Also, if you have friends who are willing to read what you write, that can be a great help to improve. Which isn't my case since I have no horsefucker friends and the rest don't care to read any original fiction I write.

I'll sleep now. Drink coffee when I wake up and hopefully write decent dialogue after that.
Also, companion poll! (If you want to...)

Also, we need a minotaur to do all of the heavy lifting for us.

If you're not great at the full-on "writing a finished product that people will enjoy reading", then consider talking about the story. Potential places for it to go, different character development paths, what other decisions the characters might have made and how things would have turned out differently, or why something that happened was a good/bad thing.

Or, you could try develping prompts for new stories on your own.

>Two days pass before you see the town rise in the distance and the serene forests give way to the plains.
>Striped Tusks remains a small hamlet compared to the abandoned port of the north, but it brings a breath of relief and security with its modest wooden wall and the gentle slope of the many roofs that peek over it.
>Winter has yet to arrive but you see small columns of smoke rise from chimneys, being carried away by the wind, and citizens gathering wood and stocking on whatever they might harvest on the surrounding fields.
>There is a serene atmosphere to it and a pleasant smell in the air.
>The scent of Rosemary and tulips, freshly cut grass, perhaps a tinge of cinnamon although you think that might be something else.
>Traveling back from The Spire has been notably harder than the trip to get to it, Twilight spent many hours tending to your recovery and you could barely walk, a slight limp on your left leg.
>She assisted you with her magic and as she healed you further you started to show signs of your usual strength.
>Being bed-ridden is not for the restless of heart.
>”A hunter presses on” is what you would tell yourself each time that you rose from the grass cushioned ground.
>Little was spoken between the two of you besides the cordialities that would come now and again or questions regarding your health and ability to put one foot in front of the other.
>Walking was arduous, you felt as if every cut was about to burst open anew every time your muscles stretched or contracted.
>But you dreaded the quiet nights the most.
>Where once had been comfortable silence, an understanding between the two of you that needed not be explained, now there was tension and a stagnant threat that stalked each passing minute.
>She would sleep close to you, out of habit maybe, but you didn’t dare put your arm around her and she no longer craved to rest her head on your chest.
>Her eyes betrayed her feelings.
>>
>>27415755
>You don’t know if yours reflected your attachment to the mare, and if they did then it didn’t seem to matter.
>She took to the air every couple of hours, scanning the forests and calculating the distance to the town.
>Twice she had turned to stare at the Spire in the north and the crimson crystals that circled it like moons.
>Both times she had been gone for almost an hour and you were left sitting with your back against the trunk of a tree, wondering if she would come back.
>She always did, and she always walked by your side, even if there were tear stains on her cheeks when she returned and even if her eyes were fixed on the road ahead during your travels.
>It was a difficult two days and you longed for the smile that she wore before the encounter in the Everfree, the smile she had in every episode of the show.
>So starved of her you were that even the thought of her crying over you in Canterlot was more appealing than the silence that hung between you like an executioner’s axe waiting to fall on your neck.
>And now, finally arriving at Striped Tusks doesn’t make things any easier.
>You cross the gates in late afternoon, the minotaur guards study you with suspicion, the citizens act uninterested although their eyes follow you through the streets.
>A room in the inn had been Twilight’s first order of business, but you were adamant on seeing the elephant first.
>He needed to know what had transpired and he could offer you some assistance.
>She didn’t argue.
>Shadows dance inside the tent, cast over its walls by the light of the fires that burn inside.
>A familiar minotaur stands guard at its entrance.
>”You have returned, bold one. Although I can see that you are not as you were. Did you get into a fight with a tree? A door struck you too hard?”
>His grin widens after every word as he takes great pleasure in taunting you.
>Before you had looked worthy of challenge, even daunting.
>>
>>27415764
>Now you are ragged and painted in your own blood, hardly dangerous.
>You smirk menacingly at the minotaur and flash him the silver hanging from your side.
“I could still take you on and come out winning.”
>His grin fades.
>”The old one is in council. You can’t enter.”
“That so?”
>Now it is he who flashes you his weapon.
>”Yes.”
“We have serious business to discuss with him. Please, let us pass.”
>He shakes his head and his fingers clench the grip of his axe with purpose.
>”You can’t enter.”
>Twilight, who had acted meekly during the first encounter with this minotaur, chastising you for being aggressive, speaks up.
>”It’s about the Spire.”
>”He knows the legends. What of it?”
>”They aren’t legends. We’ve spoken with Geist.”
>The minotaur doesn’t answer, he remains frozen in place, holding onto his axe like a sailor lost at sea, pleading that it will keep him safe.
>There is fear in his eyes, terrible possibilities in his head.
>”Don’t speak that name. Whisper it if you must, never speak it in public. Names carry power here in the west.”
“What are you talking about?”
>”They wake up monsters and open doors.”
>Cryptic as it may sound you can understand it after the tower.
>You nod and the minotaur scans the street, looking for anyone who might have heard.
>He prays that no one did.
>”Wait here.”
>He disappears inside the tent and the murmur of conversation soon follows.
>When it ends you hear the rustling of fabric and stomping of hooves.
>A yellow pegasus stallion of red flowing mane, an ebony gryphon of pale feathers, and a zebra of complicated tattoos step out of the tent, glaring at you, annoyed that you have interrupted their meeting and ended their discussion.
>The minotaur motions for you to enter and a raspy, booming voice comes from the center of the tent, one that sounds less intimidating after the things you’ve overcome than it was when you first met its utterer.
>>
>>27415770
>”Leave us. Stop anyone from entering.”
>”I know.”
>Axe firmly in hand, the minotaur marches away mechanically –not before giving you a long measuring stare however- and again you stand inside the tent holding audience with the elephant of countless scars and timeless wisdom.
>His expression is fierce, it demands your respect and you don’t dare challenge it.
>The smells of incense and burning coals assault you and the heat from the fires bowls makes your cuts itch and your arm pits sweat.
>Twilight trails uneasily to your right.
>He sits upright and the ground trembles by his weight after every move he makes.
>Your hands are steady and you don’t fear him –you’ve sent something worse to a watery grave- which he takes note of in your broken appearance and the sharpness of your stare.
>He sees each of your lacerations as a letter, carved onto the skin by scribes of violence, and he reads them, binding them together in the language of the experience.
>For a time, by the sunset colors of the fire, he sees a warrior instead of a wandering hunter.
>”You found the gryphon.”
>It had been your decision to come and so, taking responsibility for it, you speak for yourself and your companion.
“We entered The Spire.”
>”How did you know the name of its guardian?”
“The gryphon spoke it and woke the entity up. We talked for a while.”
>”Lies.”
>He puts no emotion in the word.
“We’ve killed Yarnak.”
>”Madness.”
>His eyes desperately search yours for any sign of the venomous blade of deceit or the consuming flames of insanity to show him that your accounts are not to be believed, that your proclamations are a farce.
>You had met him ignorant and now, to his fright, you have returned speaking fabled names that his forefathers had passed onto him and even claimed to have spilled the blood of an ancient guardian.
>>
>>27415781
>Your words are weapons that his hide can’t protect him from, and the implications of your actions are crueler to him than the unforgiving maws of the northern sea.
”You lied to us.”
>”I was hoping that the gryphon would die in that place. No one outside of these lands should know the name of the warden, and even those that do would never speak it out loud. This is my fault, I should have been more careful. I’m sorry.”
>The words are ash crossing the dry tunnel that is his throat, but he speaks them with little effort.
“We didn’t come to have you apologize to us.”
>”I wasn’t. Not to you anyways.”
>”We need your help.”
>He ignores Twilight, his interest solely on you.
>”Why did he wake the warden? What he seeks can’t be given by him.”
“He wanted to see the atlas, a map of the world that was kept inside the tower, and to know the way to the Vaults of-“
>”Hush! Her name is sacred, outsiders may not speak it.”
>You nod but his sudden zealousness towards the unicorn is intriguing.
>The elephant turns his head to the side, to the north, and somehow you are certain that he is looking past the forests and the cliffs.
>Twilight watches him, annoyed that he paid no mind to her plea, and then goes to you for help, nudging your leg with her wing.
>She still doesn’t look at you the same way she used to and it stabs at your heart.
>The elephant chuckles disdainfully, an ominous and cavernous sound.
>”We got another fool chasing after a legend. He won’t achieve anything, although the waking of the warden is troubling. There is no telling what that thing can do. But the doors-”
“Silver can open them.”
>This gives pause to the elephant, his muscles tense and his grey face goes paler.
>He doesn’t move and you elaborate.
>You share with him your tale of the north, remembering grimly what became of Firewing and giving a chilling description of what took place with the captain and his eternal nemesis.
>>
>>27415793
>Speaking of the ship and the illusions of the Spire is a difficult ordeal, you are tired and the flames prey at your weakness with their heat.
>The shadows put on dreadful masks and your legs can hardly keep you standing which forces Twilight to use her magic to help you.
>By the end of your retelling you are exhausted and can swear that Geist is floating by the side of the elephant, a smile on its eyeless face and a mesmerizing shine deep within its misty body.
>There is a moment of quiet as terror digs into the chief’s heart and his million secrets wither under the alarming details of your story, becoming worthless in the face of recent events.
>He had spoken of the unicorn with repugnance when he had told you of the Spire, but his blood runs cold when he realizes that you and the gryphon know more than enough about Lumen than what he is comfortable with.
>”I can’t deceive you, boy. Allow me to be honest.”
>He goes quiet for a moment and it is hard for him to speak, tripping over his words and taking uncharacteristically long pauses after each sentence.
>”Everyone here knows the tales. The pale unicorn mare. The Lonely Goddess. The Golden Frontier. Stories to bind us together with their teachings, fanciful accounts of old history, embellished truths, they are whatever you want to make of them. To us they are as popular as yours of Hearth's warming eve.
>”They say that Lumen sleeps forever in her hidden cathedral, floating over a sea of incandescent feathers, waiting for the day in which the world needs her and a pure of heart awakens her. There isn’t a soul alive that met her, except for the warden and perhaps your princesses, but to us –to the West- she is an object of adoration.”
“You didn’t treat her us such when you spoke of her.”
>>
>>27415803
>”Of course not. We don’t share her legend with foreigners, she is ours to love and look up to, not yours. I was hoping that your little quest would end at Serpent’s Heart and for you to leave us in peace, but things have changed.
>”You must stop that gryphon. No matter what the legends say, he can’t be allowed to open those doors.”
>”Is she truly sleeping behind them?”
>Twilight speaks and he looks at her for the same time, although the way he does so makes the mare wish he hadn’t.
>”I don’t know.”
>The words are fear itself coming out of the dry lips of the behemoth.
>You can feel them turn the air cold and burrow into every wound, sinking its parasitic teeth into your flesh.
>He isn’t acting ignorant or lying out of spite.
>No, really doesn’t know what they store, and it terrifies him.
>You’ve grown too tired to remain standing and drop to one knee; Twilight is quick to lend you her help.
>”Go to the inn, tell Daisy that she should lend you anything that you may need. Within reason.”
>Twilight smiles thankfully at him even though he maintains a hollow expression.
>”This is no simple matter and the fact that the warden didn’t help you worries me greatly, but you should follow its instructions regardless.”
>The elephant looks back at you, the glow of the fire seems to deepen the lines on his face and thinking of Lumen appears to fill his heart with dread rather than the warmth that her legend should provide.
>”That gryphon is courting disaster. He is not one of the West, his kind should have dealt with him and you should have stopped him before it was too late. And you all failed. Had I known that he could open the Vaults, then I would have killed the boy myself.”
>Twilight interjects, too indignant to let the conversation go on without her intervention.
>”I won’t have you say such a thing! We can stop him before he can enter them! No one has to die!”
>>
>>27415808
>He frowns and whips the air with its trunk, debating Twilight’s worth, doubting if she will be able to stop the gryphon.
>Your eyes however, tell him that you are capable, and he addresses you.
>”Tomorrow I’ll have something of use for you. It is to both of our interests that you stop him.”
>A nod is all that you give him, knowing that it is enough of an answer.
>He gestures with his trunk for you to leave and it takes Twilight’s magical assistance for you to be able to stand.
>The elephant is unmoved by this as he patiently watches you walk out of his tent and the minotaur take your place before him.
>His attention seems to be solely on the flames inside one of the fire bowls, but his guard knows better.
>All their years together have taught him that the town’s chief is not to be underestimated.
>They remain in perfect silence as the coals sizzle and the fires gradually go dimmer.
>”Bring me Comet and be ready to take a letter.”
>”You will involve the council.”
>He nods wearingly.
>It is difficult for him to acknowledge his desperation or uselessness and hoping that they’ll deal with Silver before he reaches his objective is the only thing he can do.

>Daisy, the innkeeper and zebra that had given you a room the first time you visited the town, was quite surprised that you knew her name or that the chief had sent you.
>She and Twilight speak briefly, and you are quickly guided to the same room as before.
>With your companion’s help you strip off your clothes and lay comfortably on the bed with nothing but the underwear that Rarity had provided for you.
>You get a chance to inspect the extent of your wounds and the damage on your attire, thankful that the fashionista is not here to see it.
>Twilight brings dinner a few minutes later, one which you two eat in silence.
>You fall asleep soon after, alone, while she stands by the window pensively viewing the night sky.

My neck hurts like crazy!

That is true. Even writing the general details of your story can be very helpful.

>>27403423
Something that I forgot to say is that you can try making short stories of around 1000 words in which you convey an specific emotion or create a certain atmosphere.
It can be some very good practice!

Just wrote some more visions of Lumen. It was trash and cliche. I should kill myself.

>>27417782
What I meant to suggest was something like a standalone scene where you have the characters interacting with one another.
Twilight is angry at Spike for burning one of her favorite books.
Fluttershy is sharing some tea with Rarity, chatting about the approaching winter.
Celestia dies of cancer and Luna argues the quality of pony medicine with a used to be doctor that was fired due to rumors of drug abuse.
Anything short that you don't have to elaborate too much, doesn't really require a solid background, and you can fit in a comfortable amount of words (1000 was just a number I thought adequate, each of my updates is around 3000).
You can pretty much practice anything that way and the Writefags Guild should provide you with anons willing to evaluate your stories and skills with a critical eye (I think).

>>27417732

I do not know how much longer this story is going to be (not that i want it to end any time soon, the story is fantastic and these threads are comfy) but, from what i can tell, i will probably be running out of Rarity to post before we conclude our Hunter's tale. In regards to the story... well, we have the three days in the town and the arrival of familiar faces, the journey to the Golden Frontier, the Golden frontier itself, and then the Vaults. Maybe something else in between. I'd say we have this chapter and probably 2 or 3 following it. Considering that it’s been almost 3 full months since I began, this might very well go on for over another whole month before it is finally finished.
I was hoping to reach the 250k word mark, but now I realize it was just wishful thinking. Maybe in an extended FiMFiction version. A man can dream.

As for the pics, I think you could follow up with Dash, then move on to side characters, and, if I write fast enough, finish up with Twilight for the last chapter.
It is totally up to you though..

“You are worried.”
>”Whatever gave you that idea? The pensive stare or the tense dinner?”
“Talk to me.”
>She sighs and turns away from the window.
>You have been looking at her steadily for the last couple of minutes, her lean body and loose mane makes her a beautiful, almost too alluring sight to resist in the lonely nights, but she is your traveling companion and you refuse –time and again, and will continue to do so- to throw yourself at her.
>A loose strand of hair falls over her face as she walks toward you, covering her left eye and she doesn’t bother to put it right.
>You motion for her to take a spot to your right.
>She always found solace in you during the night, thankful that she wasn’t journeying alone.
>It was so strange for her to appear so vulnerable under the moonlight, the cold wind beating at her nuzzle as she seemed to be lost in dreams, when she was always so rigid in her dealings during the day.
>You offer her a playful smile once she sits next to you and she pushes your face away with a hoof.
>”I know that I tend to brood every couple of nights, there’s no need for you to tease me.”
>She says so with a chuckle, not really bothered by your good nature, and levitates a water skin to her lips, relieving her of the dryness in her throat before extending it you.
>You take only a quick sip.
“So…?”
>”So I dreamt about it last night.”
“Only the building or was there something else?”
>She rolls her eyes.
>”You know what I mean. I’m annoyed that even in dreams he plagues me. And it isn’t only him…”
“Who else?”
>”One of our princesses, Luna is her name, has the ability to enter dreams. She looks after us in them, helping those in need of guidance.”
“That doesn’t sound so bad.”
>You put a wing over her and find her to be warm.
>It would be wrong for you two to mingle in the hay.
>”Maybe for you it isn’t. I am the one who must deal with her unrequested company during my sleep.”
>>
>>27426439
>It is easy for you to sympathize with her annoyance at that, you know how bothersome it is to have someone who believes to be above you lecturing you on subjects that they think they understand, telling you how mistaken you are to act in a way that goes against their wishes.
>A gryphon’s life is to his clan and nothing else.
>You are happy that your lord no longer holds you on a leash.
>”She even likes to drone on in that royal speak that is so popular amongst nobility! It is insufferable!”
>The mare takes on a straighter posture, her eyes half-lidden and her expression a mockery of the arrogant faces of those that frequent the halls of any court.
>”Thy charm is dang'rous, thee shouldst relinquish it and cometh home immediately.
>”Leaveth thy companion, that gent can't off'r thee a thing!
>”What wouldst thy love ones bethink of thee?
>”Doth thee not und'rstand thy duty to both teachest'r and kin?”
>Her rendition of Princess Luna causes the both of you to laugh, yours rumpus while hers soft and harmonious.
>Your homeland can’t find you here; it can’t pull you away from your journey and this mare; the blood may soon wash off.
>She hits you lightly on your front leg before taking a hoof to her lips, giggling behind it.
>”Shhhh, don’t be so loud. They’ll kick us out.”
>You grin as an idea pops to your head, one that you are swift to carry out.
>Clearing your throat, you whisper to her ear and catch scent of her fragrance, mystic and maiden.
“F'rgive me mine own lief, t wonneth't befall again.”
>She frowns at you as if offended but doesn’t leave the comfort of your wing.
>”Don’t you dare start with that. I’ll pluck off every single one of your feathers, I swear it.”
>She looks serious and she tries to put an edge to her voice, but it only causes your grin to widen.
“Go ahead, I need a good preening.”
>”Sometimes I wonder why I’m traveling with you.”
“The mares say that I am a good companion.”
>>
>>27426453
>She scoffs at that even if she finds your banter amusing, and you are sure that she is about to say something -a retort perhaps-, when she goes very quiet and very still.
>Her eyes glimmer in the wistful light of the moon.
>”I have been thinking about it, more so since we crossed the border.”
“Your tower.”
>It has been on her mind for quite some time now.
>A design of hers.
>You haven’t managed to grasp it fully, her explanations, although detailed and scholarly in their precision, are intertwined with magical theory and concepts that not even she seems to understand.
>Crystals and runes, stone and magic.
>Once she hinted at something more, “a window to see world”, and you couldn’t imagine what her brain was conceiving.
>She nods, somberly, and it doesn’t feel right for her to look so grave over something that should be a pleasant, serendipitous thought.
>”Building it would mean to have a home. A refuge where my dreams are mine to see, where I can train myself in all the intricacies of my power, away from masters, teachers, and jealous students. A place to rest my head and, maybe, one day start a school of my own...”
>It is a pretentious ambition, slightly hypocritical too, but innocent and born of longing rather than pride.
>You can’t picture what will become of her if she succeeds or of you if you find yourself unable to settle down.
>The road is long and this West unexplored and wild.
>Its winds flutter your feathers every day, begging you to fly high and far.
>But is its soil good enough for you to set roots, or will you roam forever, running from your past?
>Lumen trembles by your side and nuzzles your chest with her head.
>”If I build it, will you leave to search for a purpose?”
>She was always so unkind with her questions and her heart so curious for their answers.
>You look up to the moon through the small window of your room and it shines full.

>She needs a friend, a pure soul to walk with her through the fields of life.
>And what are you, really?
>You, who don't even know your own heart.
>A gryphon should have a heart of steel; a gryphon should never break to temptation.
>Old teachings.
>You take your wing off of her, fold it to your side, and move away, lying down to sleep.
“I don’t know.”
>She doesn’t say anything.

Going to guess that this Gryphon is on of Silver's ancestors, which is why he can open the Vaults.

>She turned a page.
>The ocean of flowers extended in every direction, their sweet scent permeating Celestia’s fur and muzzle, reaching her from all around.
>She sighed in delight and continued to read her book while Luna ran playfully throughout the meadow, sending petals and disturbed insects flying in every direction while she chased one butterfly after another.
>It was a memory that she could always come back to in order to find herself filled with joy and reminiscence, of a time before the nightmare and the solitude.
>Her mane flowed by the cosmic winds and her eyes dawdled on the words, soaking each one of them in like it was the first time she read them.
>There was something to this book that she couldn’t really quite place.
>Was it the fact that she had read it while her sister basked in peace under the sunlight?
>Maybe it had been the tale, so masterfully written and serene, like a lullaby to the eyes?
>Sometimes she thought it was simply because of how the characters connected with her innermost emotions in a way no other ones could.
>It was a legend, old and forgotten throughout the millennia of her rule, a story of two alicorn sisters and how it all begun.
>No pony had written it and no pony would ever read it, for it was safely locked away in the minds of the only two beings who knew the tale.
>She turned another page.
>Somewhere in the distance, Luna stopped her run and turned to look at her sister, finding her lost reading.
>She left behind the hops and prances to take on a more distinguished walk, each step measured with precision and practiced posture, her head held high with pride.
>Celestia turned another page.
>It didn’t take long for Luna to arrive by her side and stand there in silence, waiting patiently for Celestia to acknowledge her.
“You are usually too busy to share my dreams. Do you want to read with me?”
>>
>>27454668
>Luna regarded her for a couple more seconds before speaking, the meadow going still behind her, the wings of the ladybugs freezing as everything goes static as a the surface of a hidden lake.
>”I need to know why you lied to me.”
>Celestia lifted her head to meet Luna’s gaze and her eyes inquired her to elaborate.
>”You promised me that you would destroy her creations, that you’d leave nothing behind so that no one, pony or otherwise, could ever use them.”
>She had, and could still remember their talk in a throne room that has since turned to ruin, enveloped by the colors of twilight.
>An agreement had been reached between herself, Starswirl and the mare, to burn all research so that it may never corrode another poor soul.
>Luna had found it a suitable solution, but requested for Celestia to go the extra mile and clear all traces of her.
>To travel to the West and bring down her sanctuaries and kingdom.
>Celestia had never spoken of her suspicion to anyone, not even the stallion sage, however she did wonder, during the solitude of those fleeting minutes between awareness and sleep, if that had been the first time in which the nightmare began to openly corrupt her sister.
>”I’m sorry, Lulu. I could never have done it.”
>Luna held her impassive demeanor.
>”Then why tell me that you would?”
>”Because I thought it would please you and put your soul at ease.”
>Luna rolls her eyes in discontent, pushed Celestia to the side, causing the mare of the sun to watch startled as her sister lay next to her, the book placed between the two.
>”Well, dear sister, now we have a gryphon chasing after her.”
>Celestia returned to her book.
>”I thought as much. That last letter was surely a ruse, most likely political.”
>Luna began to read, quick and meticulously.
>”We also have a fellow princess hidden away from us.”
>”What do you mean?”
>She explained, with her attention on the written words.
>>
>>27454675
>”Twilight Sparkle must have entered the tower -or some other ancient refuge- and hasn’t been able to venture into the dreamscape for short of a week. It worries me.”
>”It is her task. I gave her the information she needed but it was the map which sent her. She is more than capable of handling herself.”
>”And you trust that thing? What if she ventures through the gorge or finds herself capable of controlling her magic?”
>Celestia turned another page.
>”Starswirl couldn’t do it, and neither could we. Twilight will be no different.”
>”And if that gryphon can?”
>Celestia eyed her sharply before returning to the book.
>”You worry too much. Have faith in my student.”
>”This isn’t a matter of faith. She is in over her head. What if that warden hurts her or some other creation of her does? We can’t simply sit down and watch.”
>”It won’t happen, Lulu. She wasn’t like Sombra.”
>”I never trusted her.”
>”I don’t recall you ever being very trusting, even as a filly.”
>”And you were always too trusting.”
>”Perhaps.”
>”Is she dead?”
>The question brought about a moment of silence between the princesses, one that Luna did not welcome.
>It was hard for her to believe that her sister didn’t have an answer, harder still after a thousand years had passed, and it left a sour taste in her mouth.
>She pressed on.
>”Did you see her die? Did Starswirl?”
>”No.”
>”Then who is to say what hides behind the doors of that place?”
>”The remnants of a good pony.”
>Another page is turned and the rustling of paper carried with it a certain feeling of finality.
>”This isn’t a task for us to get involved in, but I think that you’ve already done just that.”
>”Yes. If Twilight Sparkle and that hunter are meant to do this, then my actions will be of no consequence and they’ll carry out their mission regardless.”
>”And if they fail? Will you fly off and tear down the mountain?”
>>
>>27454681
>Luna let out a short and amused laugh.
>”I’d do it if I could get away with it. Sadly, things will be done the old –or is it new?– fashioned way.
>”Regardless, I stand by my beliefs that she should have been sent to Tartarus and her creations destroyed, and you should have not lied to me.”
>Celestia looked at her sister with a miserable expression and spoke in a hushed, heartfelt tone, the sins of her past seemingly stabbing at her again.
>”Please, don’t be mad.”
>Again Luna laughed, only this time it was a merrier one, almost a giggle, and it caused Celestia’s ears to perk up.
>”I’d never let anything push us apart again, especially not a difference in opinion. I just needed to let you know where I stand in all of this.”
>She nuzzled Celestia’s neck which caused her sister to push her into an embrace with a wing.
>They shared in the warmth of each other for what in the world of dreams might have been an entire age, together in gentle stillness, until Luna broke away from the touch with a grin on her face.
>”You’ve grown old, dear sister.”
>Celestia stared at her quizzically and slightly offended at the remark while Luna was forced to stifle another laugh that was rising.
>”You have yet to turn the page.”
>Celestia turned to the book, followed her sister’s instruction, and when she looked back at her she found the curious and caring eyes of a younger Luna, waiting eagerly for her older sister to read the story out loud.

She will die.
And he will live on.
Sorrow is his cloak.
Despair is his hood.
Regret is his scythe.
The sharp crescent of steel has been forged anew by the desperate desires of Mankind into the gleaming shape holstered at his hip.
He shall turn it upon every shape of darkness in that world.
Dispelling them in a hellstorm of lavender light.
And every shot will send another small piece of her out from him never to be recovered.
All things must come to an end.
But he shall remain as its witness.
And ever after as well.

Shit! I cut myself on all that edge. Anyone have a bandage?

>Moving isn’t as much of a hardship as it had been the day before.
>The pain is dulled by a sense of numbness that seems to cover particular spots throughout your body, similar to the application of local anesthetic but tame enough to allow you to move, if only in a sluggish manner.
>When you arrive to the top of the stairs which lead to the ground floor, you find that the inn is empty expect for the zebra –her name was Daisy, right?- and Twilight, both chatting pleasantly with each other.
>You catch snippets of their conversation, Twilight talking about something rather chaotic which you believe to be one of Discord’s misadventures and Daisy being reticent about accepting such tellings as actual fact with her eyes open wide and her mouth hanging lower with each nonsensical detail added.
>The floorboards do not creak under your feet and you are thankful for it as it keeps their conversation going for just a little longer, allowing you to enjoy Twilight’s cheerful voice and friendly behavior, both of which you have been lacking and yearning for the last few days.
>It all drastically changes when she, in a chance move of the eyes, sees you by the staircase, slowly and silently making your way down.
>There was no denying that she would have noticed you before you reached the bottom, but you had hoped for your moment of happiness to last just a bit longer.
>The smile on her face when her gaze finds her way to yours is one born of a joyful atmosphere and the sweet taste of friendly banter that still swims around her tongue.
>In an instant however, when she recognizes you, that smile changes, a slight movement of the lips and a delicate close of the eyelids.
>It still remains, although now turned every bit as pure and fickle and cold as if she were about to run away forever.
>You want to run to her, hold her in your arms, bury your face in her mane, and make everything better than it ever was.
>>
>>27475661
>Somehow it feels like the most natural thing to do.
>The most natural and distant conclusion.
>She lifts a glass of applejuice to her lips, takes a long and drawn-out drink out of it, emptying it of its contents before excusing herself, leaving the establishment without another word.
>You continue down the stairs and the stool next to the one which Twilight had been sitting at, hers too precious to be claimed.
>It resembles an all too familiar bar scene from a classic romance flick that you might have seen once or twice in your life.
>Daisy takes the empty glass away and gestures with her head for you to say what you want.
“Water.”
>She nods and a glass of clear water, cool to the touch and warm to the heart, is soon in between your hands.
>”The chief wants you at the smithy. Don’t delay.”
“Sure.”
>You don’t feel much like asking the reason for it, or talking at all, so your voice comes out unexpectedly dry, regardless of the thirst.
>Daisy doesn’t appear to mind and busies herself studying your peculiar, dejected sight.
>You take a sip and set the glass back down.
>”What makes a knight fall into not speaking terms with his princess?”
“Excuse me?”
>”Confide in me. You might find me to be a good counselor.”
>You frown.
>Not really seeing any point in sharing your troubles like a conflicted husband away from his home, you mimic Twilight’s actions, finishing your drink and stepping away from the bar.
“Some other time.”
>”Suit yourself.”
>Briefly you wonder if you have offended Daisy with your answer, but if it is so then she doesn’t show it.
>You reach the door with the grace of a wounded bear and you hear the zebra call out from behind.
>”Take a left, walk straight for four blocks then make a right and walk for two. You can also follow the trail of smoke.”
>Although it had been your idea to do the latter, you still appreciate the mare’s directions.
>>
>>27475675
>Without turning around to face her, you lift your right arm in thankful gesticulation and you feel the muscles heavy under the tattered sleeves of your clothes.
>You take to the streets.
>The fresh air of the town and the scent of rain tickle your nose.
>Looking upwards you find downcast skies, threatening to unleash thin, misty sheets that will probably last for a generous number of hours and are going to be more of a nuisance than anything else.
>Surely the clouds had made their way here during the night since you hadn’t caught any sight of them during your travels.
>You wonder if the town has a pegasus weather patrol, and if so why was it that they hadn’t cleared the skies yet.
>Incompetent ponies, no doubt.
>You lift the collar of your torn coat and hurry along.
>The blacksmith is quick to find and even before entering it you see the tall, bulky minotaur of thick sweaty dark fur which might be very well stained by soot, hammering away.
>His pair of ivory horns glimmers by the light of the kiln that burns to his right.
>He doesn’t notice you approach and you call out to him over the sound of the beating metal.
>Absentmindedly he lifts his head and when he realizes that he has a new costumer waiting for his attention he casually speaks up.
>”Good morning, stranger.”
>His voice booms louder than the sound of his hammer, but you have to shout to be able to hear yourself over his merciless beating of a red-hot rod.
>Twice you say your greetings and twice he doesn’t catch it.
>Defeated and annoyed, you remain close enough to the minotaur’s work station to soak in the heat that is quickly shoving the coldness out of your body but a safe distance away so as not to bother the crafter.
>A minute later, he examines his work, which only now you recognize as the first steps of forging a nail.
>Satisfied, he sets it aside and extends a huge hand towards you.
>”Forging Grip, at your service.”
>>
>>27475681
>His voice is surprisingly smooth and evidently mature in the now silent shop.
“Anon.”
>You both shake and you find yourself pathetically small compared to the massive creature and its crushing grasp.
>”Here for the chief’s commission?”
>The elephant had hinted at some sort of assistance for you and Twilight but hadn’t bothered to share any details.
>You had been wondering what business you might have here, and it all pointed out to either a weapon or a set of armor, both of which you don’t find agreeable or useful.
>What you need is a shower and new set of clothes, not an over encumbering piece of equipment or a clumsy stick that could never compare to your revolver.
>You chose to inquire on it though, believing it might come to be of some trifling use.
“What did he have in mind?”
>The minotaur turns to the side, picking up the rod he had been working on and putting it to the fire.
>”He told me that you are a rather fragile fellow and that you are going on a hunt for gryphons, thus you might need a bit of protection against talons and blades.”
“I don’t think that will be necessary. I’d rather go to a tailor and her some new overalls.”
>He cocks an eyebrow at you before taking the rod, ready to cut it.
>”Your scars tell a different story. Besides, what hunter would refuse some good mail?”
“One that would rather be swift.”
>He sniffs like a bull, places the rod over the anvil, holding it in place with set of pliers and grabs a hammer with a sharp edge.
>”You’d be surprised at what I can make. Not all armor is heavy and all protection uncomfortable. I am skilled in what little I know how to do. Don’t dismiss my craft so easily.”
>He hammers a single time at the hot metal and the body of the nail is cut clean off.
>”You are vainly similar to my kind, but I’ve never seen someone like you. Where do you come from? Past the land of gryphon to the east? Perhaps the far southern corner of the world?”
>>
THE FALKLANDS ARE BRITISH
>>
>>27475689
“Further.”
>He nods and puts the nail and tools aside.
>”Not very keen on telling your story, are you? Do they have smiths where you come from?”
“No. Not for a very long time at least.”
>”Must be a peaceful place.”
>You don’t offer him a comment on that.
>”Well, here we have good work for smiths like myself. Whether it is a hunting party heading to the wilderness for some monster slaying or a caravan needing protection in the troublesome south roads, there’s always demand for a forge and a sword.”
“They hunt here?”
>The minotaur snorts while scratching his toned, hairy chest.
>”I’m still in business and I don’t only craft nails or sharpen knifes.”
“I see.”
>You don’t feel much like having a long conversation with the smith and he concludes so as well by the bothered look on your face, thus he puts his hands on his hip and decides to settle onto his next task.
>”Let’s talk business. The chief asked for my services and I’ll lend them to him, and you. Since you don’t want something heavy and will be facing against a gryphon, I have a special design in mind. It’ll take longer to complete, perhaps a full day or two, but it should be both mobile and protective. Is that okay for you?”
>You wouldn’t trust yourself with a sword having never wielded anything bigger than a hunting knife and the prospect of wearing metal plate isn’t attractive.
>The minotaur has sparked your curiosity however, and you agree to the commission if only to get to see what he might come up with.
>Asking about price only gets you a firm shake of his horned and beardy head, explaining that it is to be gift for you.
>You eye him strangely as he rummages through a nearby table filled with scattered tools and loose misshapen objects that had at one point or another been an attempt at forging.
>They all clutter and clank as he searches for a measuring tape, some of them dropping onto the stone floor of his corner shop.
>>
>>27475696
>Once he finds it and pulls it out, he shows it up to you with an honest smile.
