Constant flanderisation and watering down any substancial lore and subplots about characters.

Most of our main characters are larger than life by now. Rarity owns three boutiques now and two are in the most metropolitan areas of the known world. Dash is a Wonderbolt. Twilight is the princess of the smallest town in Ponyville (but gets a ton clout, weirldy), Pinkie has ascended to a higher plane of awareness, and Applejack farms apples. I think that's all the characters that matter.
Big ponies, little world is boring. They used to be scared of clouds that moved on their own, but now it would be dumb for them to fear the lord of all dragons.

I think you have to be be really bad at understanding stories if you think the ponies have gone through character development. They really haven't. They've dropped a ton of their core personalities traits and made themselves way easier to write, but that's about it.
They achieved all their life goals, but not from hard work and sacrifice. It all just sort of happened. Rarity just opened up her shop one day. Did she take out a loan? How'd she close the deal on the space? Who knows. Twilight got her the ad attention and boom, overnight success. Her plight was that she was too successful.
Dash is the same way. She's still a childish little pony with poor team work skills. She didn't grow into being a Wonderbolt. The writers sort of handed it to her, like "This was going to happen eventually".

Theres potential. Theres been potential for everything since season 1. And they are slowly tapping into those potentials step by step. Someone knows what they're doing atleast. Like rewatching Twilight becoming Alicorn how its done. First time Twilight uses teleport is when Nightmare Moon teleports her with the elements to a tower. Then she uses teleport for the first time to trick Nightmare Moon. Next episode, she is surprised herself that she managed to control her teleportation again. We get to see her quickly learn to use that spell during the beginning of Season 1 and after that it becomes so natural I forget how constantly she keeps using it. I think its odd how no one has commented on her doing it on almost every episode. Well, we get to Magical Mystery Cure, where Twilight gains Princess-hood, by using the EoH to TELEPORT her into some celestial realm where Celestia grands her wings.
