Not once, but twice the stock love sound bit (I'm not /mu/ so I don't know the technical term) was used. You also got the blushing and the tsundere attitude throughout.
Now, ship teasing doesn't mean the writers are going to take it anywhere (see Avatar, the show that gave shippers everywhere blueballs).
Ship teases are generally written in a way where the writers don't have to commit to anything and can ignore it in the future if they so choose. But it also lays the groundwork in case they do decide to pursue it in the future.
