google drive is downloading really fast for me, thanks for making that an option anon-kun
>>
>>27031013
Yeah I was testing a bunch of options earlier this week and concluded that Google was definitely the fastest free service. Both uploading and downloading.
>>
>>27030271
Yes.
>>
>>27030812

Anon I've noticed your rips have been interlaced, is there anything on your end you can do to avoid this?
>>
>>27031425
The raw TV data is interlaced. I would have to re-encode them and that would take a lot longer to get them up with my 4 year old PC. If you're using VLC you can do on-the-fly de-interlacing.

> Right Click > Video > Deinterlacing > on

Or you can wait for Dailymotion to process them since they apply de-interlacing.
>>
>>27031487
>Or you can wait for Dailymotion to process them since they apply de-interlacing.
but they still end in 30 fps
>>
>>27031501
Not really sure how it works. Maybe it's just DM's player that does it but I know it looks better than watching the raw MPEG-2.

If I had a super duper PC I would encode them down to 500MB in about 5 minutes but as it is I upload these episodes in 4 different ways and I need to save time by just working with the raw data.
>>
>>27031566

Is it possible you can get your TV or box or whatever to output the footage in a different format? 1080p instead of 1080i or something? I don't know how cable boxes work but when capturing footage from a playstation I was able to change those settings in the console
>>
>>27031501
That only happens when a person who encodes it is a dumb faggot who knows nothing about NTSC system.
>>
>>27031671
I don't use a cable box I use a CableCard tuner, hooked up to my PC, and the only thing that does is decrypt the stream coming out of the coax cable from the cable company and allow my computer to copy the MPEG-2 stream.

Because of this I am limited only to however the cable company wants to broadcast it. For most companies, mine included, MPEG-2 1080i is the max resolution. Some premium channels like HBO and more DirecTV channels are broadcasting in 1080p with MPEG-4 but I don't have any of those.

The only way I can do what you are saying is if I watched the stream on my PC in Windows Media Center (which applies de-interlacing on the fly), and record it with screen capture software. I can assure you I won't be doing any of that tho since you will either lose quality or end up with a massive file, plus it's an extra hassle.
>>
>>27031788

don't worry about it anon, I was just exploring if there were any potential options but you know what you're doing
>>
>>27031788
can you also extract closed captions?
>>
>>27031825
They already are muxed into the file. However not every player can display them properly. VLC will display them fine but MPC-HC does not recognize them for example.

As for extracting it is possible but I'm not really sure how and I just did some research and it looks like kind of a pain in the ass.

Just tested myself and that worked great. Only took a minute too. For future episodes I'll upload the .srt files seperately so as to avoid extra time muxing them in.

Thanks a bunch

>>27032564
try .ass
looks much better when opened in notepad

I can put them in but for whatever reason some of the characters can't be displayed properly. Tested with both .srt and .ass with VLC/MPC and they both end up looking like this. I'll include the .ass in the future anyway but many people might find them distracting.

If you just want subtitles for when you're watching the show then I would recommend just using VLC to display the original CC text in the raw MPEG-2
>>
>>27032601
>he's never watched mst3k
>>
>>27032728
Sure haven't, what is it?
>>
>>27032726
It's for translators.
Getting full subtitles and just translating text and eventually changing display time and even eventually moving giant groups between commercials (if they want to use different upload) would make it way easier and faster.
It used to take them 8 hours with recorded stream (no CC, one stream had CC but it got C&D after few episodes) and wikia transcripts. At the begging of S5 they still didn't have anything better.
I remember one translator who tried to find a way to get extracted CC one year ago.

in it's most simple form "Riffing" is watching a movie, and then making jokes about dumb things in the movie, pointing out poor production values and just generally making the best of a bad movie.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 or mst3k is a show that more or less made it into a thing. The premise is a mad scientist and his henchman put one of their employees alone, in a space station, with the purpose to watch bad movies. The purpose of this is so the mad scientist can find the worst movie in existence and then weaponise it. The Employee in an attempt to stay sane builds some robot companions, two of which watch the movies that they're forced to watch, and make fun of them.

The Show has a long history, a cult history and just got a Kickstarter revival. I linked an episode for you, check it out.

Anyone got the link to the one episode that company does where they just paint real horses, feed them peanut butter and reenact all the episodes? I think there's one free one.
