I started watching the show around almost when S2 ended, and yeah it was a cool ride with S3 and S4.
Then idk. The fandom, the content, the interests, the relevance, it's been dying since 2015 started.
I can't believe it's been 4 years since I got in the ride, but I think it's finally coming to an end.

The fandom is what you make it. The ride lasts as long as you stay aboard. It has peaked but we're starting to see who'll be around in the community for the long term.
One way to have a good time: find a group of people who are passionate about ponies to associate with, like the staff of a fan site or your local ponycon, and stay on the ride that way.

Who the fuck searches fim anymore. Shit, if I'm using Google I'll type in just mlp or at most my little pony. Fim was used back then to differentiate the old vs new mlp but the new mlp is so common you don't need to specify anymore.
Example, if you wanted to watch the premier would you type "my little pony premier" or "my little pony friendship is magic premier" humans are lazy. We do the least amount of work possible.

No, we are actually less active than 2012 now as of the Season 5 finale data for November 2015 and December 2015.
Not to mention, you're counting 2012 like it was the most important time for MLP when it wasn't. That was when people barely knew about the show other than the very few memes that began to be spread about it. As you can clearly see between all three graphs, the interest for G4 began in 2012, peaked around December 2013/January 2014 (around the time of the Season 4 premiere) and goes into a downward trend from there.
All the knots are beginning to be tied, the show is coming to a close.

2013 was one hell of a pony year for me.
Well it is true that the interest is falling. I've seen fancomics in the best easily get 80.000 views, nowadays they're lucky if they even hit 15.000

Some days I wish people knew that trends are just search records, much like the search suggestions are customized to your own searches.
2013 is when Hasbro's lawyers started making rounds and sending C&Ds to fans. They followed up with Twilicorn, so it's not a wonder we're seeing a lot of drop off in interest. Lawyers put down the fan content and then the show started floundering, leaving nothing to really hook anybody with.
