Hey MathFag here sorry for the delayed reply I was doing math I guess.
Yeah I just use fractions. Not only does it look nice but that symbol algebraically respresents what's actually happening, as opposed to using a symbol that is designed for elementary school text books.
I'm pretty sure that symbol was made for elementary school texts, mostly because every topic of arithmetic has a neat looking logo (+, ×, -, etc.) And since subtraction already has a horizontal line division would be dumb to also be a horizontal line.
Also this (÷) looks like a fraction with dots instead of numbers.

Not really. The sign (called an obelus) has been used for division since the 1600's, but before that (and until not long ago) it was also used for subtraction. Remember Wikipedia and the internet are your friends for these questions.
Here where I live we use : when doing simple divisions, which is nice because then lists of exercises look very orderly being evenly spaced, but for equations we switch to fractions.
