Why is this fandom so vehemently against sharing?
Take this crappy game for example. It took them about 5 years to create a few crappy demos and they still don't have a real working version of it with acceptable combat, inventories, missions, graphics, etc.
But in this 5 year timeframe they never once released the assets and source code to let others have a knack at it and see if they can do a better job than them.

Its because they want to have a monopoly on this project, likely for egotistical reasons. Its a shame that they're so unwilling to, because maybe their works could have been improved, or they could have found others willing to pitch in from outside of their little circle, but it is what it is.
Maybe they'll have another beta ready for the public by the time the series is shifted into G4.5 or 5.

at the least, that was a side effect. they've never liked the private server being a thing. one of the updates they rewrote most of how the core networking works, couple of us went through disassembling various bits and it was changed so much it wasn't worth working off the original private server base. maybe when a final release rolls around someone might start it again (if they don't just release the server)
