Last we left off, Bottle Cap and Laccolith met with a skeleton guy, who expositioned the entire story behind the curse at them. We're now on a quest to recover the lost five relics, and undo this curse once and for all!
We took the accursed skeleton with us, dubbing him Archie, seeing as long ago he was supposedly an archmage. He's said that he might teach Bottle Cap more about his curse, like how to control it, or more importantly how to survive it.
Then we went back into the pyramid, talked to the Shadow Shifter named Dorchadas, and the skeleton Archibald informed him he was free.
We haven't yet convinced him to come on the quest with us, but we have got him to agree not to hurt anyone and to meet us at sundown outside the pyramid.

>You bring the torch over to Lithy to see what she found.
>"This is a depiction of the five creating the sacred orb for the first time! They look just like normal ponies still, but later on as time progressed they were said to become more and more monstrous! Isn't this fascinating?"
"Yeah. That one is- I- Don't really get some of them though."
>"that's okay. A lot of them were supposed to be merely symbollic of other things. To be honest, there's a few here that even I don't get."
"Neat- Uh, Lithy. It's been a long day of adventure and stress. Can I go back to the boat?"
>"What?! Cap- What about- All the learning! I could spend weeks in here, it's so fascinating!"
"But I'm tirrrrrrreddddddd!"
>You whined loudly.
>Lithy rolled her eyes.
>"Alright. Well, I guess it isn't going anywhere. If it's lasted this long, it'll all be here when I finish the quest. Plus we aren't supposed to tell anyone, so it's not like I can go get a team together to preserve it either."

Yeah, let's go. I guess it'll be our turn to question Arch now about our powers. Can we get lazer eyes? Could we fly? Do we need a cape to do that? What about night vision?

"I guess. we are."
>The three of you start walking down the hallway, back towards the stairs and outside.
>On the way, you strike up a conversation with Archie.
"So, how does all this curse stuff work? It made my eyes bleed this one time and-"

>That wasn't going anywhere.
>"Bleeding eyes you say? Sounds nostalgic. How far along is this curse anyway? Have you had it for what- An hour? A week? A month?"
>You perk up, and start chattering excitedly to the skull on top of your head.
"Oh! Just a day, I got it sometime yesterday."
>"And you already found a way to use it once?"
"Twice actually! There was another time in the darkness hallway, when I was trying to see if I had improved nightvision with it. But it looked like it was just the same far seeing effect it was the first time."
>"Cap! You used it again?!"
"Uh- Yes? Don't give me that look!"
>She is glaring at you, and you're not sure if she's concerned or thinks you're an idiot.
>"Aha! Farsight. So you must have used a lens or telescope or something similar."
"Yeah! Binoculars, how did you know?"
>"The curse is a living creature. It's also very predictable once you get to know it. There are rules it must follow, and rules you must follow in turn. Oh, by the way, I must warn you. Every now and then, the creature WILL fight you for dominance over your body. Try to win that."
"What? How- How do I fight back?"
>"We'll discuss that later. For now, let's go back to your ship. I want to see if you can use that Farsight again. If it was just a fluke, then I can't teach you anything yet. To learn control, you have to have an incredible will power, and a clear mind. If it was just the creature doing it for you on a whim, then I'm going to have to teach you some other things first."

>"Ah! Home sweet home!" Laccolith admires her little ship.
>"That's your vessel? It is hardly appropriate for a continent spanning journey. I don't even see a sail."
"Don't worry Archie. It may look puny, but it's quite the thing. the engine packs quite the number of horses."
>"It's slave powered? How horrific! I thought for sure that sort of thing should have been abolished by now."
>"What- No! What we mean to say is that- It's magic powered! It goes very fast."
>"Ah. Well speed is essential, but we may need more than that for this journey."
"Okay, so we're at the ship. Tell me more about the curse. I mean- Intense will? Unshakeable focus? Absolute determination? I don't know if this curse thing is for me."
>"It isn't as hard as I make it sound. Besides, you seem a down to earth pony. So long as you don't have multiple voices in your head telling you what to do, you should be fine."
"Okay, so- That dark side. Is it stronger? Is it worth it to join? Do I get free cookies?"
>"If by dark side you mean giving into the curse- You would likely become a feral beast, and lose your mind. Would not recommend. Happened to a friend of mine once. I'm told you can come back from it, and fight back for dominance if you do lose, but it doesn't seem worth the risk."
"Alrighty then. So, that's a no go. By the way- You said the curse will fight for dominance, when abouts does that happen? Could it happen like, right now?"
>"Unlikely. It isn't well studied though. Now then, did you want to do curse training now? Or maybe find me some vegetation to see if I can life drain it and possibly regain a bit of myself? It doubles as a good demonstration."

>Laccolith dumps out the bag, and the bones lay in a pile.
>"Ooh! Thigh bones connected to the- Hip bone! Hip bones connected to the- Spinal cord! Spinal cord's connected to-"

>How can she do that when she's handling a skeleton? Bones are just so... Icky.

>Soon, the skeleton of Archie is reassembled, and you carefully reattach his head.
"Huzzah!"
>"Very good. Now, I shall attempt the life drain. It will look very different from anything you might be able to pull off, seeing as you are not a unicorn. Being a Unicorn and having the curse means I have a built in natural channel to direct the power into and out of."
>He leans forward, and a red swirl forms around his horn, then he whips it back, and then forth again as it plunges into the cactus.
>Red magical veins form, as the cactus slowly depletes.
>It's needles all fall out, and it's skin turns dark and shrivels.
>"You'll note that the majority of the curse magic is red, with only hints of the other colors. That is because I have learned to specialize. The life drain is a red specialty, there are five- Obviously. Different spells use different- Oh nevermind, I'm sure you'll learn eventually. If you ever get to try this, it will likely be a mismatch of every other color the curse represents."
"Okay- Got it."
>He finishes the life drain, his magic connection severing itself and disappearing.
>He looks to have thickened his bones, but there wasn't any recovery of skin or anything else.
>"Well, it was more than I expected, but it will definitely take more than that to recover."

>"I wouldn't worry about that. This body has solidified a fair bit. I should be safe to move about like this. Mayhaps another two dozen or so cacti and I would be almost able to appear right as rain! Of course, I'd have to avoid regenerating internal organs, and It'd basically be a cage of flesh- But isn't that all skin is anyway? Oh wait- No, there's supposed to be fur- Okay, maybe just five dozen Cacti and I might be all better."
"Uh- Right. I'm sure we can deal with that. Plenty of cacti out here that no one will miss."
>"Great! But that can wait. I'd like to try and focus on teaching you. It's been so many years since I've had a student, I worry I must have lost my touch. Okay then. So let's see that far sight!"
"R-Right now?"
>"Why, yes."
>"Okay, I'm gonna go get that first aid kit again."
"It should be simple. You just have to command it to work- Sort of. It's a good deal more complicated than that, but it's a starting point."
>"We could always put this off for later, Cap! Just go back to town for now? Please?"
>Lithy doesn't seem comfortable with this, but you know it wasn't as bad the second time.

"Oh- I would have loved to follow my dream I've always had. I always wanted to open up an Ice cream and soda parlor. Nothing too fancy, but a real small shop. It's nothing interesting. Not compared to you! Misses, goes-on-adventures-and-epic-quests-on-a-daily-basis."

"Uh-huh. Sureeee. So what do you do for a hobby, when not adventuring?"
>"Oh, that's easy. I spend lots of time reading and reviewing of course! Although, a long time ago I used to write things too. When I was just a small filly, I loved quests and adventures so much that I made some up! I got really into them, started actually going on mini-quests. My Dad made me stop though. Said that Non-fiction should stay non-fiction. What about you Cap? What sorts of hobbies do you have?"
"Oh! I used to collect bottle caps! If you can believe that- I mean, bottle cap cutie mark, what's he doing collecting them, right?"

>Laccolith and you begin chanting 'fun' as the Shadow shifter rolls his eyes.

We kind of broke in, she might not be happy if we said that the servant opened the door since she probably isn't allowed to, or with knowing that we just walked in. We could just say nothing and act like we are meeting her for the first time. Not that it matters much, whichever is good with me.
