The MLP fandom became a meme, fad and protest movement that had little to do with the show itself. It accumulated a load of hangers on that just said they were fans to be anti-cool and alternative. Now being a MLP fan isn't shocking anymore all the people that weren't really interested in the show will leave and a smaller, more dedicated and invested fandom will remain.
DESU as soon as all these fan of the fandom trolls find some other way to add labels to their sad lives a much nicer time will be had by all.

If it was up to me, I'd follow through with current plans (S6, another EqG movie, FiM movie) and then start production on a reboot. I would probably focus on f2p mobile/browser games and short web animations. The characters would have subtle name/color references to existing generations, but it would not be deep enough to draw any connections. The characters would also be designed to be shallow, as to not offend anyone and be easy for young girls to understand.

As someone who was here for the beginning of the fandom back in my freshmen days of high school, I was around during its peak. I left after my sophomore year of high school, and completely stopped watching the show due to my friends finding out. I'm back, near the end of my freshmen year of college. I have to say, the fandom survived longer than I thought. And as many other anons said, the ones remaining are the true dedicated fans that continue to keep it steamrolling. I did enjoy the show at a time, shitposting on this thread with you guys, staying up until 3 a.m and refreshing this board with you mates. But after visiting for old times sake, I realize this show has to come to an end sometime soon. And so does the fandom, and all of you bastards that have posted in it for all these years. Maybe i'll come back in another few years and see what's been going on, if it still exists at the time. I'm 18 now, so i'll see if I come back when I'm 22 or so. But if the show and the fandom fade, I'll remember writefagging and shitposting with all of you. Remember, you're here forever.

A large part of the appeal of ponies is that they have a broad range of personality traits and quirks. Yes, that will make them sometimes react differently to similar situations. This is normal and desirable.
G3.5 was all slice-of-life cheaply animated cutesy bullshit. Part of what attracted the fandom to G4 was that more different things can happen.
I still look forward to main 6-centric episodes. By that I mean keeping side characters and background characters out. Secondary are fine, but I need more focus on purely the main 6 in a slice-of-life friends hanging out sort of way. The sad part is it may have dragged on too long and there isn't much left to play with. I was much happier with my relaxed season 1 episodes with light touch on fantasy rather than the extreme focus on worldbuilding now which has taken front and center over the characters. It feels more like the characters are being pushed into the background instead of being front and center with semi-every day issues.

Attendance is either slowly growing or stagnated (BC might actually see a decrease this year) and community interest in attending as a panelist, vendor, or staff is down. Simpsons fandom still exists despite the show being zombie longer than alive, there still exists a rescue rangers fandom, and the fandoms for Futurama and Firefly became bigger and more active once the shows ended. Hell, the Star Wars fandom self sustained itself on fanfiction for twenty years before the prequels came out.
Sure, you got off the ride. Hell, everyone is probably going to get off the ride at some point, but for everyone who gets off, two people get on. The ride will never end, it will continue with or without you.
