This year is probably the least Christmassy I have ever felt. In my social state, I'm not sure if that's good or bad. How do you feel /mlp/? You doing anything special tomorrow?

I can't because family, but I won't be around with them forever and one of the things I'm looking forward to is NOT having to do Christmas. Decorations are tacky, the whole thing is cheesy and commercialised beyond reason. I cannot wait until it is no longer mandatory for me to take part in it.

I'm going to set this in the EqG world, simply easier to write. Sorry hoove-fans.

>You are, well, Anon. Because honestly, who else would you be?
>You are currently at the park, enjoying a refreshing day before the known Christmas arrives
>You also have your good friend Octavia by your side, electing it would be a good day out to spend with each other
>And, well, she's not wrong
"Damn, you chose a good day to head out. I would've thought that you would be practicing all day."
>"About that Anon. I haven't really been preparing for anything"
"Why? Are you not doing songs for the CHS?"
>Christmas parties at CHS were known to be quite a thing, including it's events that take place within.
>Dancing, Games, Drinking
>You weren't really fond of events like these, to which you decided to enclose yourself within your home every year.
>In this case, you would expect Octavia to be playing music, much like her other friends.
>"Well, it happens that I am not wanting to perform this year. I found it to be quite, boring..."
>Sitting down on a nearby bench, you continue the conversation.
"I always thought you were fond of these things. You seemed to like playing for the School."
>"I AM a fond musician, I just can't help that I feel like that is all I'm seen as. Just a musician..."
>You understand. She is popular within CHS, but only for her music.
"What about Vinyl, is she going?"
>"Of course she is. They are more into her music than my own."
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I prefer your music over her's any day of the week"
>It's true, sometimes Vinyl's music was just too ear-shattering. You sometimes wonder why these two are friends with such different tastes.
>Looking back over you can see a blush form on her face
>"T-thanks, Anon. You are a good friend"
>For the years you have known her, you've treated her as your own Sister at times. You two got along good.
"No worries, Tavi. I'd listen to you anytime."

I'm living in a different country this year and it's on the equator so no snow. I know it's Christmas Eve but it just doesn't feel like Christmas time for some reason. I'm spending Christmas Day with my friend's family but it doesn't feel right. Kinda bummed. Might go out for sushi on Boxing day though.
>>
>Back to her normal, bright mood, she looks back up to you.
>"It's Christmas tomorrow Anon! If you're not spending much time at your home... alone... m-maybe drop by my house sometime?"
>And that wonderful shade of red returns
>"but of course, if you don't want to..."
>Octavia always knew about your lonely days of Christmas, not that it bothered you either way, but company this year wouldn't be too bad of a change.
"Are you sure about this Tavi? I'm fine on my own, you know that."
>"Of course. I would rather spend it with a friend than be alone"
"I guess it's a go then."
>And again, that smile is replaced back upon her face.
>Something that always made you happy, her being happy.
>You were actually looking forward to it now. A day alone with your best (And only) real friend.
>Once the talk finished, you realised the time was getting late
"Hey, its getting kinda late don't you think? We've been here for 3 hours prior to our talk."
>Octavia jerks up
>"3 hours?! I was supposed to meet up with Vinyl half an hour ago!"
>It was not common for Octavia to be late for things, so this took her by an unexpected surprise.
"Well, you better get to it then"
>"Yesyesyes, GoodbyeAndSeeYouTomorrow!"
>And just like that she was gone
>Leaving you with a day to look forward too
>Even if it did exclude Whiskey drinking by yourself

Again, sorry for the short posts. Just a little taste to see it it's worth reading. This is basically my first green to of written, so if you want me to stop, let me know.

If the thread is still alive later, I might find some more time to write. If not, I'll post more tomorrow, if Christmas doesn't decide to have an unexpected schedule for me.

[Scene: Patrick Bateman's apartment. Anonymous and /mlp/-tan are playing Yahtzee. Tracy is in the back, moving from the bathroom to behind the kitchen counter with bags of a strange substance, implied to be gore.]

Anon: Look, in Egypt, it's a Yahtzee. I wasn't kidding about being a Yahtzee world champ.

Tracy: DON'T CALL ME WHEN I'M WORKING!

Anon//mlp/: Sorry.

Anon: You were there, you know. You literally shot the guy.

Anon: I am! He accused me first! That motherfucker would've found a way to say I killed that hooker.

/mlp/: You said you swore off 3D.

Anon: Look, she said she'd wear fake hooves. More importantly, while we're providing exposition on what happened thirty minutes ago, why did you kill her to begin with?!

/mlp/: I thought it was a Mafia goon!

Anon: Whose plate of spaghetti did you spit in, Em?

Tracy: She tried to jack off Luigi's horse.

Anon: The guy that owns that Italian restaurant?

Tracy: No, he's the manager for the IHOP near my place.

Anon: Fuck that guy. Was it worth it, Em?

/mlp/: THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL ME.

Anon: BUT DID YOU HAVE FUN?!

[another Anon busts down the door, wearing a nametag with a name that is never shown.]

Anon 2: WHO SAID FUN?! NO FUN ALLOWED, THAT'S TWENTY PERCENT LAMER!

Anon 1: (slides all the Yahtzee stuff into the box) Good game Em, glad I won.

/mlp/: Oh fuck you.

Tracy: If that's just an autist, scare him off, I don't need another faggot trying to shag me.

Anon 2: HEY THAT'S NOT COOL! God, that really hurts my feelings.

Anon 2: I really, really need to talk about how I'm so hurt.

It's pretty surreal to be walking around a mall listening to Christmas music and then to step outside where it's 77F.
This is the first time in my life that I actually enjoy malls though, because the Christmas decorations seem to be universal no matter what country you're in.
I might as well be in a mall back home.

Hong Kong is on my ever-growing list of places to see while I'm here.
Here's a question, what's your favourite place to get chicken rice in Singapore?
It's my favourite food here and I'm always looking for a good hawker stall haha.
>>
>>25869789
Ah, that one extremely subjective question that all of Singapore would cause a civil war over the answer.

Now, I'm not a foodie by any stretch of the imagination, but the best chicken rice I've tasted is at Maxwell centre, the Tian Tian stall.

I'd like to add a few places where I think the food is excellent: Adam Road food centre (just 5 minutes' walk away from Botanic Gardens Station) does have excellent nasi lemak, satay, and if I recall correctly, carrot cake. There's also Changi food village/East Coast food centre (somewhere in East Coast Park, veeery popular especially for late night suppers) where's there's excellent buffalo wings, satay, oyster omelette, stingray, and other delicacies.

Further southwest [?] is Boon Keng food centre - Chee cheong fun, carrot cake is all I can remember.

Now, for roti prata, Casuarina curry at Thomson Road (nearest MRT at Marymount or Yio Chu Kang). I live in the area, but I don't know the route from YCK. From Marymount, you'll have to walk for about 5 minutes to a bus stop on Thomson Road (bus code 53021/53041), then most buses stop there.

There's also the prata place at Springleaf, and taking buses 167, 169, 980 from the above bus stop will take you there.

If I'm correct, you're studying at NUS or NTU? I don't live in the West, and rarely go there, so I can't really give you good food thereabouts.

Hope this helps! Any other (not so difficult) questions?

>Not today
Is this really only a thing back in my country to celebrate on 24th?
>>
>>25869787
I don't think there's canon evidence for that, but it could very well be true, us classical musicians often learn more than one instrument. I'm learning the violin after achieving a reasonable level in piano, might be starting the fife or even bagpipes once I finally can play Ysaye's sonatas.
>>
>>25870115
no, it isn't canon. I wish I had someone who would mentor me to just play SOME instrument.
I have a guitar and an electric piano but I can't play either one past a few notes.
>>
>>25870132
You'll need a teacher to improve the fastest, I'd mentor you for a bit on the piano but I doubt we're in the same country (Singapore). Though, since we're on the topic anyway, what are you working right now?

For a former British colony, Hong Kong's still focused on Cantonese. Most signs have an English translation though, so it's fine for me - my Chinese is weak anyway.

I was at a one day exchange with one of the top schools two years ago, and the students there prefer to speak English over Chinese. Kinda weird, but still alright in my books.

Food's a nice change though, even though there's just so much food back home.

You'll find that even though Singapore seems nice, we Singaporeans love to complain about anything and everything in general.

Aye, that's kinda due to Singapore once being a British entrepôt. English's our lingua franca, but we usually speak another language. Where you from, anon, and what are you majoring in?

>It's... Octavia, with her Chello
>Her head is hung low, but you can be sure that it is her
>The grey light can't mistake you of her colours
>Taking a closer look, you see a single droplet fall from beneath the face
>You can't be sure, but it looks like she is... crying
>From what, you are unsure
>How she got in, you don't know. Why she is playing a single, calm note, also has the same answer.
>Moving closer just makes the scene seem all the more unsettling
>Still, she does not lift her head, and the tears become more constant
>Becoming more clear to you that your friend is in need, you quicken your pace
>But part of you wants to stay away, as if you should not be a disturbance
>Screw it, might as well attempt some form of communication
>With a calm voice, you ask the most obvious question first
"Octavia, a-are you alright?"
>No response
"Octavia, can you hear me?"
>Again, no response
>You are within arms reach now and yet her head is still hung down
>Taking a knee, you ask one more time
"Tavi, listen to me"
>You didn't care about the problems around you, like the dampened light, unlit room, etc.
>You took Octavia as a priority
>'Tavi' is what sparked her, you are sure of it
>Octavia lifts her head up to yours
>Redness is in her eyes from the previous tears
>She stops playing those low notes and leans in
>You remain still, waiting for a spoken word from her
>It isn't until your vision fades, and you feel a wetness on your lips, do you drift back into the darkness

Might leave it there for this afternoon. Might do a single update later tonight, if I'm not too busy. I do hope this is entertaining and not starting to bore anybody out.

Sorry it's been taking so long to answer, I've had Christmas dinners and stuff.
That is pretty funny they prefer English, I'm sure it will be useful for me haha.
I've noticed complaining is a sort of national pastime here, but I'm from Canada and it's not too different there I suppose. Have you ever been?
I'm majoring in English literature, how about you? I really admire how so many people here can speak two or even three languages.
All I have is English and a bit of French.
Hope you had a good day today, Merry Christmas!

You lucky guy, you.

Nah, never been to Canada.

I'm still in the Army, just took leave for a few days to go overseas. Once I'm done, I'll be majoring in mathematics.

Yeah, the older generations have a lot of people who can speak Chinese dialects, Malay, and English - pretty impressive.

Ta, mate. Nothing special for Christmas, but I'm hoping I get to do something nice for myself on Hogmanay.
