Comic Rarity, specifically. Show Rarity is actually not that slutty, she just has a very specific mindset for who exactly she wants to date. She wants either the fairytale romance of a prince sweeping her off her hooves and making her a princess in a very specific, beautiful wedding, or she wants a brilliant, intelligent pony of prestige who would make her the most popular pony in the world merely by association. In both, she has a very naive, if innocent, outlook on it, things have to be exactly this way and they're going to be this way because that's how it always went in the romance books, and she'll have a romance just like that. If anything, she doesn't want a man, she wants to live out a story.
Comic Rarity has a different characterization, though, and just goes for literally any guy who looks decent. I'm not joking, any guy. She hit on a guy in Appleoosa who she knew nothing about, had no possibility of being popular or rich, anything. He was just a guy.
Yes yes, I know, comics=/=canon, they ignore them wholesale when they write the show, I know. You don't have to post the Meggan quote where she says it's not canon until it's on the show, I know.
