The thing is, the first stories of all the writers were actually pretty good.
It's once they got too comfortable and too sure about their continued involvement they went full fanfiction tier, warping the show's style, characters and worldbuilding to serve their own fantasies.
For every comic arc/issue I have a general test: if I can imagine the show's characters' voices as I read the issue, it's usually good.
In the past year, there's been very little of that.

Dark Magic possession is excusable, it's why Luna / Trixie / Rarity could be forgiven so quickly. But there was never any confirmation that what Sombra was feeling was truly possession like what those ponies experienced, not even Hope thought he was acting out of character. And even if he was, the numerous crimes he did far far outstrip anything any other possessed character has done, even if it was unintentional.

Don't have to: being a 'victim' means you are the most grieved party in a situation, IE that would be the Crystal Ponies, not Sombra. Say you have a robber who only robs because he was fired from his job unjustly and needs to steal to feed his family, and successfully takes everything an innocent man has. Did you not read the rest of that point? I think Sombra could be forgiven but not as quickly as those three because A) There was no strong evidence everything he did was not his own choice and B) Even if they weren't, he did so much more than either of others I listed.

I didn't say fixing his mistakes was bad, it is good. But it shouldn't mean he's totally off the hook for it, nor does simply doing the right thing mean you are a hero. He should try to make up for them but there are still consequences to his actions, redemption takes time.

Remove Celestia and Luna completely as they served no purpose other than to show Sombra is so overpowered he can stone two alicorns. Or at least have them show up at the end to help the mane6 fight off the umbrum.
Remove Iron Will, Lightning Dust, and FlimFlam as their inclusion made no sense and they disappeared half way through the story anyway.
If they are still going to have Sombra reform, at least have it through out the arc by not only having Hope but also Twi and Cadance talk some sense into him from what they learned from his journal instead of just like 2 pages where Hope gives him a stern talking to.

God no, Celestia and Luna reacted reasonably to seeing someone who had just murdered a princess and enslaved a city, and that's by going at him. Sombra is the asshole that cursed everyone.
And I know it's the comics and they're not really connected, but they were right. Sombra, sans Princess intervention, immediately goes to war and fucks shit up. Like I said, I know it's the show, so his motivation was 'Mwhahahah, gonna take over the world" and this whole shit with the Umbrum was not actually a part of that universe, but in context this means that if Celly or Luna hadn't stepped in, we know what would have happened.

I am really not the biggest fan of saving someone who sacrificed themselves. It invalidates the whole sacrifice. During the reflections arc they did it right, Sombra absorbed all the evil and now has to live as an enemy of the nation, forever separated from his Oneitis.
This time though there are absolutely no negative consequences for him. At the last moment he realized what he was doing and that it was exclusively his fault and couldn't be blamed on fate, and he sacrificed himself to fix it - that was a good way to resolve it in my opinion, just would have needed a few more panels.
But then they fix him up again and he gets rewarded for almost destroying everything by getting to be with his one true love and enjoying an adventure.
So really, it would have only needed minor changes in my opinion to be a lot better.
