Holiday gets a solid 8/10 for giving me many chuckles and being quite comfy. Art is cute, would love to see more Cook drawn issues in the future.

Let's put it this way- they were finished months before the CMC episode. It usually takes at least 3 weeks from proof turnaround to print. Figure at least two weeks before that was when they had everything put together and sent said proof to be soft/hard proofed. And the work it takes to draw up the issue is weeks if not months more, even with Curnow's shitty quality control.

God I just really hate what they did to Hope with this arc. There is nothing remotely likable about her anymore for me between her asinine treasonous plots, her overly developed guilt complex, her constant victimization, the fact that any character that isn't a villain doesn't make a point of trying to provide her with any sort negative reaction, constantly painted as a reasonable soul even though everything she's done goes so far beyond reason

Giving both an 8/10. Cook's book definitely did not disappoint, as I was excited to see how it would hold up compared to...the ones we got the last two years. (Not counting the power ponies, of course).
Friends Forever: What struck me was despite Fleecs+Anderson, it came out better than expected. it was simple, and they explored different scenarios like lying or going through BATS! which was a nice detail for a 21-page book. I didn't have any qualms for it and while the ending felt a bit rushed, it didn't completely ruin the comic compared to the FiM pets issue. It was cute, relaxing fun.
Holiday Special, the three stories were fun, charming and especially the second, funny. They used the mix of artists well and I enjoyed it.
Not much to say for both issues as they were self contained stories, which works best for MLP. Would buy both, and I haven't bought an issue for so long.

AJ and Fluttershy didn't fully resolve the conflict by their own wits. The only way for Fluttershy to not be tarred and feathered (again) was for the villain to slip up.
It's a cop out.
At least it was mostly cute with some background jokes and a new animal and OC that could plausibly fit in the MLP world.
And the protagonists tried to resolve the problem (muh pretty pony princess nature reserve) instead of acting stupid for the sake of the plot (muh dindu nuffin cattle ranchers).
6/10 - Pleasantly surprised Ted and Fleecs didn't phone it in.
