Even if no content is being posted having a place on standby for said content when it arises would not hurt. Giving it a bump every blue moon while you're recovering would not make your creative battery deplete anything it has charged.
All a break does is take away the possibility of anyone else than thread regulars to post anything because to other people or those that have not been paying any attention to the thread lately would find the general missing and by that cease to develop anything for it as it is no longer there and they would come to believe it died out and nobody cares anymore.
Hence I am against all forms of breaks in having a thread at available if needed.
