You are aware that Starlight Glimmer is going to be as much featured in future seasons as Discord (at best) and not really as official Mane7th, right?
They would never change the intro not to mention that there's still only 6 thrones. She's now just a character that give Twilight some arc/purpose as a teacher. Just like Discord gives Fluttershy a significant role reforming him.

Watch S6 feature a subplot about Starlight needing to figure out what Element of Harmony she is, which is revealed in the S6 finale and then she gets her throne at the castle then.
If this is indeed an upgrade to Mane 7 with Starlight Glimmer as the new member, and I suspect it is, the point of her being there is to be Twilight's pupil and also learn and interact from the other five too.

Nigga, the intro's been changed over the series. Plus final part of this ep had Starlight very prominently displayed with the M6, Discord didn't get that much at all.

Discord had more attention just because of his popularity and because of De Lancie.
Starlight is just a generic villain introduced and refroemd in the same season in a course of 2 episodes. Voiced by generic voice actress.
She will be lucky if she gets a single episode all for herself. But most likely become ac visible as Trixie.

Starlight Glimmer will probably feature a bit more often than Discord. I fully expect the season premiere being about her and how she's fitting in, and she will probably have a few episodes for herself like every other main pony. In addition, she'll show up at the castle often, studying magic with Twilight.

Considering just how prominent Starlight has been this season, opening and closing it as the main villain and making various cameo appearances through out, I think it's safe to say she's being set up to be a new main character in S6. We'll just have to wait and see how that actually works when the episodes come out next year.

She's not even Spike tier character bound to Twilight for being her assistant/brother.
She lives in her own house which mean that she will be only shown when needed just like Discord. It wont matter if the episode is about Hearth Warming Eve or Nightmare night. She will just not appear like Discord nor have any cameo because writers will simply forget about her.
