Sorry anon, I was hyped, wouldn't you be hyped after coming from work in the morning and catching up on an mlp episode like this?
>>25525677
The piano piece at the end was better, but it was nice to see a new music style(EDM pop) being added to Daniel Ingram's mixed salad of tunes.Others being an aria(This Day), theatrical(Flim Flam Cider Song), modern pop(Love is in Bloom), pop-rock mix(EQG:RR soundtrack), and a few more.

Daniel Ingram's work, while very good, isn't really that amazing. The music is a bit flat (the kind of sound you'd expect to find in songs for a childern's cartoon about pastel ponies), but does have potential. I'd say that with an extended vocal track someone could make an awesome remix without necessarily making any big changes.
And I like the sort of industrial sound it has.
I'd say that Lena Hall's singing is the best part about both of Coloratura's songs. Her voice has good character (cocky attitude the in first song and sincere redemption in the second one) and a great bit of emotion. To me, she's the reason why I listen to both the songs on a loop.
>>25526642
I have to say I pretty much agree with you. I'd personally say Daniel is damn good at what he does, and that's making music for shows. I'd say that his stuff is better than your typical kids TV show music by quite some distance but when you stack it up against something from a recording artist it, as you say, falls flat and feels a bit cheesy. I also agree with your comment about Lena, she really made those songs and the character stand out, I don't know if I'd like the songs as much if it wasn't for her.
It's funny you made the comment about the industrial sound, when I was listening to it I was thinking if the bass hit harder and it was a bit more aggressive it could be a decent enough harsh EBM track or if it swapped out the more EDM-pop elements with something more trance orientated you could have a futurepop track on your hands.

What amazes me about Ingram's work is that he seems able to pull off any style of music, and he works very quickly.

>liking something that is clearly meant to be satire
>>25528249
It's meant to show that she can also do that kind of music well, even if it's not what fits her most.
Also how would it be satire? What does it satirize? Pop EDM music?
>>25528261
lady gaga and her completely artificial current on stage persona vs her early years as a simple piano playing vocalist?
>>25528249
It feels more like a tribute than a satire. A satire is supossed to make fun of something, not be better done than the reference.
If you replace the "pony" words, I bet you could put in on the radio and most people wouldn't notice the difference between this song and the rest.
>>25528277
Well, it was indeed a Lady Gaga reference, but I'm not sure it's meant to be satire. I'd say it's more of a statement, maybe criticism, but not satire.
>>25528277
actually Lady Gaga returned to her roots by doing a duet album with Tony Benett, so there's even more of a parallel
>>25528249
Except
- they took efforts to make it sound both authentic and good
- it doesn't deviate significantly from the existing pony themes and presentation of other songs in the show
- it was popular in-universe
Nothing about this is satirical. Pinkie's Wunnerbolts rap was more satirical than this song.
I offer a different hypothesis: it really was just intended to be a catchy, albeit gimmicky, song that represents what a pony pop singer would actually sing while also introducing her stage-persona character to the audience.
>>25528293
>>25528261
The overdone lights and effects and her goofy appearance are obviously mocking the way most pop concerts are. It goes right out to say that this is what makes the performance rather than the song, if I remember both rara and rarity saying something to that effect. It's directly admitting the shallowness that the actual top 40's stuff would never admit.
