Ponies are generally too upbeat and lively for my preference. Maud > Pinkie Pie, but Maud is kind of overdoing it in the opposite direction.
Also, I just prefer the style better. My other favorite BG ponies are Moonlight Raven (fan name, she's the one listed as "Goth Pony" in Canterlot Boutique credits) and Coloratura, especially with makeup.

She's one of those ponies the internet never agreed on a name for, and she doesn't as far as I know have an official one.
On 4chan she's usually Golden Laurel, but she's sometimes called Autumn Gem or Aurea Laurea
Her pigtails are cute and Apple Fritter shows up enough to get a basic background. Whenever the Apples need to raise a barn she's there to help usually doing work with the stallions. When Applejack needed to bake food for the royal wedding Apple Fritter was her assistant. She always seems to be paired with Meadow Song for some reason as well.
