I am thinking of starting up an /mlp/ fan club at my highschool. Currently I have 2 friends who are into the show and would help me manage it. It will consist of episode discussion and general discussion, as well as collective Bronycon visits.
Any tips on developing it?

My only advice to you is to grow a thick skin. Such a club is likely to invite a certan amount of derision from the general student populace.
That being said, I would still go for it if you think that you can take it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and everyone gets to be a fan of whatever the hell they want.
Both highschools that I have been a part of had different rules on clubs. One required at least three students and one teacher sponsor, and the other required five student but didn't need a sponsor. I advise you to look into it and see what your school requires.

There has been an anime club for around 13 years now, and it's gathered about 20 frequent-goers and around 50 members in all. No one pesters them at all. It might be a bit different for this, but I'll give it a try.

True, but different clubs will have different reputations. I was in two clubs in highschool: fencing and D&D. I could mention fencing whenever I wanted because nobody judged that. Mentioning D&D had a very different response.

Our school is pretty open to anything and strict on anti-bullying policies, I don't expect much harassment on the students.
