Did you enjoy Skyrim?
Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4 are almost literally low-budget Skyrim mods with guns and dirt instead of swords & snow. The setting is so butchered at this point it doesn't matter which ones you play and in what order.
If you're even slightly interested in storytelling, go with New Vegas, unlike the other games it's made by Obsidian who can actually write.
If you're only in it for pony references, well, 4 is the obvious bet, but like all "Elder Scrolls" games it's janky as fuck and there are no mods to fix the half-baked mess yet. On PC you can't even rebind the keys.

There are actually several horsefuckers on /v/, I've had short off-topic chats with them on /v/ in more than one occasion. The problem with /v/ is that it's a conglomerate of vidya-enthusiast /a/ssholes, normie shit, reddit-tier memers, literal fags, oldfags and retrofags, so it's bound to be a shithole with so much "diversity", so to speak. They'll shit on everything AND praise everything at the same time because they are not some hivemind. /mlp/ on the other hand, as far as I remember, "tends" to be pretty cohesive.
Besides, almost all of /v/ likes to play and make several threads at a time about whatever "flavour of the month" game that's been recently released, so you're not missing out on anything.

I think a part of the reason for /mlp/ being easier to use is that the average person is actually capable of being fully acquainted with all relevant information on the board's subject. It makes arguments over misinformation or ignorance a lot less common.
