Can someone tell me what the huge appeal to fallout is?
I have a couple friends who love the absolute fuck out of it and would not stop about FO4 but whenever I see them playing the games, it just looks like post apocalyptic shooter skyrim or something.
Maybe I'm just too adhd and used to shit like bloodborne, ninja gaiden and platinum/clover games.

It's the freedom of doing whatever you want however you want going wherever you want. Bethesda are kinda shitty at letting you say what you want, but otherwise it's quite enjoyable. It's the feel of being a survivor in a ruined world just being tough as shit that is appealing. Also there's plenty of funny encounters and cool places to explore among the ruins. The only thing about the survival part that is really missing is the whole deal with needing to sleep, eat and drink. New Vegas had that, but New Vegas was the game made by Obsidian, not Bethesda.
If you're playing those games though, I can definitely see why you'd lose your patience with Skyrim or Fallout. These games really aren't about perfecting the art of combat, but rather just surviving the encounters in general. Or blowing everything in your path barely trying, depending on the difficulty you choose.
