You know what I find funny as disorganized as TFH's IGG was they still found a way to get their game funded.
Whereas Indivisible is doing everything we said they should(IAMA's on reddit, reaching out to popular YouTubers, contests) and still are failing to remotely appear like their game is getting funded.

The number isn't unreasonable, but you need some serious hype to hit that high.
Their main problems are the unappealing characters and the unimpressive demo they released. People fucking love characters, look at all the "I don't play fighting games but I love the characters so I donated and I'll play the story mode" TFH got, and showing bad or mediocre characters is worse than showing nothing. Same for the gameplay. They released a demo, which is a respectable thing to do, but its a terrible terrible idea business wise. People will almost always assume the best if you give them the opportunity, describe the gameplay in a positive light and people will imagine it as something they want to play. Let them try a half finished version and they realize that maybe Valkyrie Profiles combat actually wasn't that fun.
Look at Mighty Number 9. They had some concept art and promises that got people excited and it didn't matter what the game was actually going to be, people threw money at them.

No, the reason is that, while one and a half million is not a very big amount for a game development cycle, it's a huge amount of money to ask from something like a Kickstarter or Indiegogo where most people would just pledge for the cost of the game, from 15 to 40 bucks. It's impossible to get that many people interested without having hype or history.
