To me, it used its central theme poorly. afaik, it was advertised as the first family centered Sentai in a while, and many like myself were excited for it. What ti did wrong was make it competition centered on a title that became meaningless in the end. Past sentai families made the familial connections much more prominent since all of the characters cared more than enough to help each other. Here, each member helped each other only enough so the other did not beat them in the race to become last ninja.
If it was five-six different apprentices of the old man instead of grandchildren, the premise might have been taken much more easily

I liked Ninninger's action and even the mecha had some highlights, although it was mainly around the debut of new stuff, but they had even monster of the week plot involving the mecha a couple of times.
The main issue was specifically Takaharu's actor being very bad, in spite of being a huge focus for the show, even getting attention in episodes focused on other characters.
The story also never went anywhere, but Zyohger's also is pretty similar in that sense and yet it doesn't get nearly as much dislike.

Cast was super bland, BurgerNinja seemed interesting at first but eventually became as generic as the rest of them as soon as he dropped his gimmick.
The villains sucked, they never did anything and would die as soon as they were introduced. Not to say that every series needs lots of intrigue and shit, but coming after ToQger made this feel a lot less interesting.
They never seemed to introduce any real story elements to keep the audience engaged. Much like major villains, plots are introduced and resolved so fast that it honestly feels like nothing happened. BurgerNinja's werewolf arc was stupid, and whatever interest it generated was immediately dashed when it was resolved an episode later.
To compensate we got lots of cameo appearances, which were entertaining but not enough to make it worth watching. There were also multiple clip show episodes to fuck the pacing even more.
The action was nothing special on foot or in mech.
The ending was a fucking abortion. Every trope they could find crammed into two episodes, team loses powers, gets them back literally two minutes later, pointless twist about a character nobody cares about, villain has a sudden and meaningless change of heart before they die, final boss dies like a fucking MOTW jobber just like every other major villain, GG no re.

Pretty much. /ssg/ doesn't exist solely on shitposting. Last year with Ninnin was bad, but since Zyuoh started, it's been at a very minimal level, which is nice.On the flipside though, since Ghost started, /krg/ has been practically nothing but shitposting.
