Because Gaim wasn't about breakdancing and fruit, it was about a shady company and the potential end of the world and young people forced to grow up amidst death and betrayal. Drive wasn't about toy cars, it was about a half hearted detective wrapped up in a plot involving scientists and an experiment gone wrong, and superscience threatening the natural order of humanity. The cars and fruit are just what the toys were based on, they weren't the entire premise of the stories.
