***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Let's see for any gimmicks before we settle on pure hatred. True the ZZII is lackluster, and we don't need all these damn bears, but Green [Q] might be decent.

>>14400109
Base was the Cathedral from the BF manga, MG probably never.
>>
>>14400191

The green Qant is ugly and looks like shit.
>>
>>14400172
First things first. Do something else, pick up an RPG you like and play for awhile. Don't think too hard about all the robots.
While you're playing this RPG download a show you've already watched, and wouldn't mind watching again.
Grab the easiest and most relaxing kit you have after RPG time is over and start at the top, don't stress too hard while you start clipping pieces. Make sure the aforementioned show is playing.
Does your attention waver? Take a minute and enjoy what's happening in the show, and then you can resume the build. Take it at your own pace and don't be afraid to stop building for a little while if it gets to a good part.
In case of differing tastes replace RPG with another type of game or relaxing activity of your choice.

Just remember that the build is not a race, and if you only build a chest piece in two days, then that's just the time it takes.

Hey guys, /m/alaysiafag here...

I've done this in spare time...

What do you think anons?
>>
>>14400266
Well it's a start anon. It's good that you have an intended direction, but you should really clean up all those nubs.
That aside, maybe strip the paint, sharpen the V fin and the center fin, and then repaint it, but make sure you thin out your paints properly, and don't rush it. It looks like your reds and yellows mixed a bit there. I would say do yellow first, let it dry fully, and then mask the yellow parts and paint the red one. That way you'll have clean lines and no intermixing.
>>
>>14400214

OK, it looks like we have an A runner with the red parts changed to dark green (?) and the clear parts changed to blue, a new B runner with only four parts in common with the old one (possibly multi-colored? There's a yellow bit at the solar plexus that's not from the 00Q, though it might be an insert on the A runner instead), an unchanged C runner (inner frame), and a new D runner (blade parts).

The cat ear part looks like it basically replaces the rabbit ear part on the original kit, and it should have an even smaller sticker sheet than the original Q unless there's something strange going on with the shield...
>>
>>14400301
The yellow part is simply the blue piece on the Qant in yellow.
>>
>>14400312

No, check the shapes again. The original is kind of V-shaped with a sharp crease at the centerline, the yellow part is flat in the middle.
>>
>>14400214
I can't be the only one who thinks that aside from the slightly silly cat ears the left is a much better design. Dropping red from the color scheme, simplifying the knee and shoulder armor while simultaneously adding detail, reducing the sharpness of the lower chest area to match the rest of the machine's "blunted" profile, adding definition the ankles... it's so many little things that on their own look much better to my eyes.
>>
>>14400388

Ankles are literally the same parts as on the original HG kit, I'm holding it right now and the legs aside from the knee armor are identical.

The shield might be a little bit busy though, I'll have to see it from a different angle (and see what other gimicks those blades have) before I'm sure.

Also, the parts for the standard V-fin (another change I missed earlier) and the rabbit ears will most likely still be included, so you can build it with the stock head if you want.

I just managed to break a peg of a 3-piece hand when removing the thumb section.

Do you guys practice any special precautions when picking hands apart, or should one just simply be more careful?
Is this inevitable for these hands and one should refrain from changing load-outs too frequently?
>>
>>14400609

Just got to be careful, like you would with any thin peg.
>>
>>14400609

I'd suggest a combination of being more careful *and* not changing loadouts as often, because the pegs *are* fragile, and most of the time they're ABS and not fixable if they do break. You *might* be able to salvage it by drilling out the broken peg from the hole and replacing it with a short metal rod or a pair of tiny neodymium magnets or something.

Pretty happy with how the seam welding practice went with Jim II. Much better this time around than on my previous kits.
I'm really surprised by how nice and tight all the joints are too. I wouldn't think that the dopiest looking grunt would be the strongest HG I've built.
>>
>>14401511

If you only have the option for one, go for hand paints, because you can do things with those that you literally can't with spray paints - like fine detail painting.

If you have the option to go with both, do so, because spray cans are much easier to do large surfaces evenly with, expecially if you prep properly (clean, prime, mask, paint), and there is basically no other way than spraying white primer followed by white paint of the right glossiness to get something that's actually white and even.

Airbrush problem guys.

It was my first time spraying Future floor spray from my airbrush (Badger Patriot) and I sprayed at about the 10-15 PSI range. First coat was a light mist and things went fine.

I took apart my brush and cleaned it while waiting for the coat to dry and do the second coating. But when I went back to spraying the airbrush shot out the liquid when I just meant to use air. And bubbling was happening while I was spraying near the nozzle/needle cap. I tried with water, same deal. I've sprayed before this session with thinned acrylic paints and it has gone fine.

I assembled how I always have, what's going wrong?

Mainstreet Akiba has plenty of good stores, some resell P-bandai. Yodobashi has a great selection for gunpla and plamo. Gunpla boxes are pretty big, dude. I'd reckon it'd be worth it if you buy a shitton of them.
>>
>>14401678
No. Extra pieces of luggage cost way more than shipping, which also charges based on size of the package but but focuses more on the weight, and gunpla is light.
>>
>>14402224

Whether the charges are calculated more by weight or by volume depends on the shipping method, as well. EMS and SAL scale differently, and while EMS is more expensive for small orders, when you're ordering low density stuff like Gunpla or other Plamo, there's a break-even point where EMS actually becomes cheaper than SAL. I always try to order my gunpla shipped from HLJ in groups of four, because that's about where SAL shipping catches up and passes EMS shipping. And delivery within the week with tracking for less money than delivery "within the month" and no tracking is never wrong.

EMS IIRC has an absolute size limit though, so unless you can't fit all the kits in a box that's smaller than the maximum EMS size, don't try to send it that way.

All right /m/ after 2 weeks I finally finished my first kit, I'm making it for a friend and I fucked up on some plastic cement on his arms so the panel lining is a little screwy there, but how's the rest of it holding up? I'm going to hit him with a matte finish after this.
>>
>>14402886
Yes, I took apart the brush, dipped a paper towel and w-tips in Windex and then scrubbed the parts. Then I put it through my ultrasonic cleaner through a Windex/water mix for a few minutes.
>>
>>14402908

"Not terribly awful."

(seriously, good job. My kits are built OOB and not even panel lined most of the time, though I do try to take care of the nubs at least.)

No joke, you can dip a lot of the stickers into water as if they were a water slide. That will let you position them a lot easier. Just press it down flat with a Q-tip or something to soak up any water left over and it will stick when dry.

And no, the water will not ruin the stickiness once it is dry.

Weak hair joints, problems with the fit on the hair parts (requires cement + sanding if you don't want an obvious gap between the parts), the inferior legs (Stiletto and before's polycap ball version, not the upgraded Materia swing joint version).

Also half the price/content of the kit is the stupid MSG arms.

My backlog is kind of bare, it's been a lean six months or so. VF-31J is on its way though.

And I have plenty of WIP's, it's just that they're regular Plamo and not gunpla. (stares into corner at eight under-construction Hasegawa VFs... most of which have been sitting there for a year.)

Ugh. Dusting the Gunpla shelf is always such a pain, every time I touch one of my kits they tend to decide that "no, not holding this pose today". Even if it's just plain standing up. Also, having to pick them up and look at them just points out to me very clearly what an inferior builder I am, but at least my Gunpla are in better shape than my regular plamo.

Counted on my shelf today: 23 HGUC kits, 15 other HG kits (HG00, HGAW, HG G-reco), 5 RG kits, and six MGs. Plus three VF-25 kits.

How big are your collections?

Short story time but
How do you deal with "Gunpla burnout"

I used to build kits 1-2 month. I love it. Even if sometimes I just snap build something just for the "hell of it" I was happy as fuck

Then it happened. I just buy kits and I don't build them. Heck I even wash the runners as well. A few days ago I saw "THE O" and the "GUSION" for sale in my local hobbystore. I've been looking for this kits for months now but I was too "Meh, they'll probably go to the stockpile anyway"

What is wrong with me? I used to even take photos as a tripfag as well.
