Reusing voice clips? Maybe, but it's going to look weird after a while, especially if the the echo effects I remember them having are ingrained into the voice clips and removing them would sound weird. Not to mention that means never recording new lines for them, which causes some limitations.
As for replacements, in Unicorn's case they could at least only catch a fraction of the flak that UC probably already got for replacing a dead VA for the anime. Japan's really anal about keeping the same VAs no matter how plausible it is, so replacing is probably something they only do if they have to.
Hell, even when the VAs return and don't do it perfectly, they'll go nuts about it. Asuka's return in Z3 was a prime example.

Mazinpower got a buff in K so that it's +25% extra defense on top of the +25% extra offense. This helped Mazinger somewhat in K, though it still had EN issues, but on Kaiser and Shin Great it's game endingly good.
Most mechs in L have efficiency issues due to having no free moves on the ally side at all. Mazinkaiser has a 99 ammo move, meaning he bypasses all that instantly.
Its attack power is LUDICROUSLY strong in terms of base. Hitting 7000 is a dream that most mechs can't fulfill without combos or being combined. Mazinkaiser can't quite fulfill that, but it can hit 6850, which is close enough.
All its stats are insane, and are helped even more by it coming with like 4 bars free.
And on top of all of that, it gets Double Burning Fire with Shin Great Mazinger - who's really good in this one because they gave Great Booster 4 shots and it's basically Mazinkaiser KS with very minor stat drops - and that attack, thanks to Mazinpower, is the fifth strongest move in the game. It loses to Final Phase + Soubi, Iczer Combination off Iczer... 2? The one with Soul, Eva Combination off Shinji, and Koutetsushin Jeeg, and losing to those four moves is not really problematic.
Oh and since you get Kouji and Tetsuya early, even though you can't pump Mazinkaiser early, you can pump THEM.

Kotetsushin Jeeg is amazing, but it's only for bosses, and while Jeeg is great against mooks, Mazinkaiser is better due to better base powers and having more useful ammo based shit.
GtG, you have a point on, though even with my love for that series I prefer to stick to the Vulking/Raiking pair until later in the stages for easier killing.

I'm already having to research Gunbuster's made up physics in order to justify how things work, like the possible scenario thatthe Black Hole Bomb was strong enough to wipe out a majority of life in the universe and that the main group was able to survive by being in the Black Hole portion of the blast. To the point where the Powers That Be That I Haven't Named Yet (tm) decided that was the perfect time to make World 2, and that's where most of the cast is dropped in to at the start of game 3. Meanwhile what's left of the universe makes up game 2, which makes you think it's some unrelated fantasy world at first.
I've put a lot of thought in to this and it's actually starting to make my head hurt when I lay it all out like this.

In HA, the Silver Tribe completely conquers Earth and cleans it out, then goes "wow, there's like no resources here anymore, guess that's to be expected" and mostly pulls out, only sending reinforcements when the Iron Tribe (read: humans) send a sudden massive bunch of troops there completely unexpectedly (Silver Tribe doesn't get that whole "home world" thing that we obsess over).
Said mass of troops ends up taking back Earth, though not before Jupiter gets blown the fuck up and Age beats two enemy Nodoses (and scares the piss out of the other two - the one with time powers saw the Argonaut going up to Age and went "well, maybe I should kill that?", and the aftermath so horrified her that the only other thing she did all fight was go back in time to ENSURE SHE NEVER DID THAT AGAIN.)

The Doron forces had a very similar level of control over Earth, where they only really pull out in force when something big shows up on the scanners they left there. Like that's stopping Eternity. I think they had a thing where people sent in their favorite mashes of ingame parts and the best ones were chosen as the main mechs for the individual pilots. Some characters had some pretty distinct mechs in their own right, like Li Fang's GM head Shining, so maybe they could keep and upgrade them as time goes on, adding in better parts to constitute upgrades.

I was thinking more that the mechs would constantly be changing each mission and you could modify it in between levels as a separate parts section, like SRC handles things like the Kohbus and Muv-Luv mechs. Too much effort since the attacks for main character units (especially Nu Gundam) Tend to be hard and expensive to animate.
And if Nu Gundam is that good, Hi-Nu needs to be even better. And they just couldn't top it.

That's real funny when you're comparing it to Gundam "80 EN 6700 finisher with 270 max EN" Exia.
There's also literally nothing odd about the ranges considering that besides their weakest ranged attacks and the finishers (where Raiser Sword loses 1 base range but that's alright since you never want to use it at range 1), they're the exact same (1-3 10 EN attack, 1-2 15(20 in Exia's case) EN attack, 1-4 40 (50 in 00R's case) EN attack and 1/2-5 80(70 for 00R) EN attack), only difference is 00R has the (useless as all fuck) barrier pierce on the slightly lower range GN Sword II, the slightly higher cost on the Trans-Am in comparison to 7SC doesn't even matter, it trades BP for ISD and later on it gets a 300 point advantage over 7SC, and just 300 points below Exia's Trans-Am, on top of having a subpilot and 30 more more base EN.

It's happened for shows that are direct sequels plenty of times. Eva and Gunbuster aren't related by anything other than the studio that made them, Diebuster is a direct sequel to Gunbuster. Expecting some kind of combo attack between the main units of those shows isn't unreasonable, but Z3 managed to drop just about every ball you can think of so in the end it didn't matter. You can pull those dicks out of your ears any time you feel like actually thinking.
