For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

Think with the help of action bases i could have MG Turn X hold another suit in the air to do Shining Finger? i'd be worried of the risk but the idea seems to good.

Why not captured grunt units? Be it a full feddie gm stolen before it could be fielded by its federation pilot. Or late 0079 to 0080 where zeeks on earth were scrounging for anything so they used what parts they had with any suit they could field like in zeonic front. Feddie stolen zaku or zaku 2 early war before v project was in full swing. Or dinged up early war machine turned into civilian use none combat unit after they war.
Like the ones they would test and reverse engineer if not field. To the stolen units that test teams would use from 0079 up like weve seen with captured units from California base, 0083 and up. But maybe even a small story of why its being used or whos using it but make sense. Example, Feddies arnt gonna have a zeong captured or super rare suits unless theres a msv manga or other source to show its happened. And a farmer or construction crew wont afford something like a dom or gelgoog let alone be allowed to own a gm because feddies are dicks like that and make sure its obsolete and museum scrap haha.
Ehh but then there's things like titans to aeug mk 2, pale rider etc that were stolen but its like a unique situation as those were plot hax type situations. Same with the main gundams in seed. I wouldnt mind gelgoog marine in titans colors or something it makes sense that way but I feel mk 2 be lazy, but some series like age there werent really examples of that. Seed had mercenaries outside the junk guild or what have you so that makes sense, IBO people stealing shit from everyone. Also just straight up oh gm in gm colors but hey its "stolen" wouldnt cut it. It have to be a personalized unit.

The Theilva. The Vagans captured the remains of the G-Bouncer and turned it into this monster.
I'm still amazed that to this day it doesn't have a P-Bandai kit. Somehow in terms of easy shit to make Bandai passed up this one.

Have an exacto knife blade you can carefully wedge in and loosen the part with? It's how I wiggled mine out. Failing that, I think you can poke them out by disassembling the torso and pushing the pegs out from the inside.

That's wrong, they didn't capture it. The Thielva is a Feddy suit whose pilot defected to the Vagans because she incorrectly blamed the Federation for an X-rounder experiment gone wrong.
The suit and pilot was the basis for an idiotic character arc about something that was intended to be tragic but was more like a time-waste and didn't change a damn thing in the end other than showing how the most advanced Age Gundam could be threatened by a several years old prototype X-rounder suit whose pilot was vengeful for all the wrong reasons.

G-Bouncer is Woolf's personal MS during second gen. It was a customized version of a limited/rejected Feddy design. Thielva has nothing to do with the G-Bouncer other than that it came from the same basic Fed MS from which the G-Bouncer was also created.

I saw this on eBay about a week ago and ordered it on impulse, but I was curious if anyone here had built it. Third party 1/60 Striker Packs by M3. Additional pics on eBay show them attached to both the PG Strike and the Skygrasper. Seems legit, but I've been burned before.

That and they're incredibly just ridiculously articulate, you can pose it as drawing any one of the it's SEVEN fucking swords, it just hit's more angels than many others because they don't need to but it allows some wonderful creativity in the poses that that most other suits can't match

How did you guys get started with Gunpla? Did you get all the necessary gear (markers, knife, sand paper etc.) immediately or did you just get a kit first? What was your first Gunpla?

First gunpla was when I was, like, 10. Gundam Wing was on television and Wing kits were in stores. I probably fucked it up bad.
About two years ago, I decided to gunpla again and I bought an x-acto knife, a sprue cutter (the wrong kind), and a bit of sand paper (also not an ideal kind), and a kit. RG RX-78-02. Because I'm an idiot. It turned out okay given how shit I was and how not appropriate my tools were and how garbage I was. Later on I invested in good cutters, two good knives, some automotive grade sandpaper, some files, and thin cement.
So, basically, I got a kit and some shit equipment and replaced that equipment as I built kits over time.

I started in the middle of Gundam Build Fighters Season 1.
My first kit was an HG Deathscythe Hell Custom, cause it was the only kit a local hobby shop near where I live had. I also picked up some metal files, exacto knife and nippers from another hobby shop that sells Warhammer 40k figs.

00 Raiser HG and Gundam MK. II revive titans. Bought an x-acto knife set, cutting mat, the nippers that were recommended in the guide, the wrong kind of gundam marker, and too fine of sandpaper.
I did the MK. II first and irredeemably fucked up the right arm. I accidentally cut half the ball joint off when cutting it off the runner thinking it was excess plastic. Realized the mistake about 5 seconds after I made the cut. He's now test material.

Having finished snapping a REX together a few days ago, I'll give you a tip.
Be very, very careful with the peg holding its railgun.
So I get that garage/resin kits are harder than Gunpla to make look good, but how much so are we talking? Because I really want to pick up one of the Messer Garage kits, but I'm intermediary at best. Most of my model painting experience is from playing 40K, but I haven't done that in a few years.
Should I hold off and just stick to customizing gunpla? Or would it be worth the dive at this point?

I think the problem is the concept art, which made it look really disproportionately skinny on top and fat on the bottom. The actual kit looks way better. The head looks better too in the sculpt, and the knife looks 10 times better than that shit folding blade the Kimaris has.
I still prefer the regular Kimaris head but the Trooper has grown on me. I might get an extra Kimaris/Trooper and "kitbash" the Kimaris top half with the Trooper lower half.

Picked up a HG Freedom at a con. It was an impulse buy, and one that my wallet might regret in the future.

My uncle loved building model kits and I'd always spend my time watching him make cool model kits when I was around 5 or so, it was amazing to me.
Few years later, my parents moved really far away and I eventually found some G Gundam gunpla way back when they sold gunpla and gundam figures in local stores. It reminded me of my uncle who was more of a father to me than my actual father, and I got my mom to buy me a bunch because I remembered how cool they were. They turned out looking nubby and terrible because I was 8 but that started my violent descent into gunpla addiction.
14 years of building gunpla later and I'd like to think I've gotten close to my uncle's level of skill. I never got to talk to him about gunpla because he moved to Hong Kong for work and had no wi fi, but I remember always looking forward to the family reunions we sometimes did so we could talk all about gunpla and shit and show him how good I got.
Never got to though because he died a year before our families could get together. His wife gave me a PG wing zero custom ew that he always wanted to build but never got to, I'm planning to build it for him once I've got more free time and put it by his grave one day or some shit.thinking about it always bums me out, hold me /m/ [\spoiler]; _ ;
I flat coated the armor on my graze custom the other day. Alclad flat is nice stuff. I do the final topcoat on the frame parts today and it should be done.

I got into Gunpla three years ago when I got the HG AGE-1 kit.

Just been building my first kit and ran into a problem. Been doing panel lines and such with a marker and i noticed that sometimes it gathers up a lot in places, or only covers the sides of the groove. I have one of those fine tip ones and a brush type one. Is there a technique? And which one is better for panel lines?
