It just feels like a better use of my gashamonies since I'm F2P to go for things that have multiple SSRs. X-O's draw rates are really bad, though, even for a mobile game.
>>
>>13959480

Even with its size being reduced in the image, Aria's unit at best would be in sword form as large as the hand of the valzacard.
>>
>>
>>13959501
The rate of getting SSRs does not increase the more SSRs there are to get, and I imagine the Pinpoints up the rate in which you get them.

I've never used one myself because there's nothing that I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE RIGHT NOW, but I can see why someone would want to.

Long story short, Granblue Fantasy is a decently popular RPG-themed mobage.
They recently got caught for releasing a new SSR character in their gacha... but secretely gave it a much lower rate of appearance than any other SSR characters so you had to roll even more to get it. Cue thousands of angry refund requests when it came to light. It actually made the news and clued in the japanese government that mobages need a lot more policing.

If you want it in detail this guy explains it pretty well.

That's interesting. I have to give FF Record Keeper credit for avoiding this. They've said the 3/4/5* rates out loud for quite a while now (62/25/13%, respectively), and by and large that's what's been happening. I think they should reduce the 3* probability and pool, though, because the game's been out for a year and a half and the power creep is WRECKING Level 20 3*++ realm synergy items (as in, "item game is from matches game stages you're playing = stat boost").
>>
>>13959641
I thought the rates were bad but with a 11 Rare Relic Draw I got two Character specific 5* weapons I don't think it's completely terrible
>>

I was playing another iOS game emulated but it will not load. Shame because it was an okay pokemon clone

The one where Pokemon are cute girls? Or something else? Anyway, Record Keeper is pretty good and way less hostile to F2P players than other mobile games.

>>13959681
I went 0/16 on Tifa's Master Fist banner so now I'm saving the 200 I had left for the anniversary banners and possibly lucky banners. I think I'm up to..209? My JP account abuses rolling gasha for fabulous prizes. It costs a bit more per banner (70-75), but I walk away with more stuff so I don't need to pull as often.

Its pretty good, but kinda relies on your FF nostaliga boner. I'm completely F2P and am still having fun with all the content, but I amn't quite at the level to beat Ultimate Bosses, and I haven't gotten through all the Elite dungeons. The main bottleneck for me is grinding for orbs to make the better abilities, the items I've gotten just from rolling on random banners has been enough to equip me for most content so far.

Sad thing is they should've had the foresight to see this kind of shit coming, it's not the first time it's happened but it's one of the largest instances.

A couple years back there was even a law passed because most MMO's were ripping people off hundreds and thousands through a cash shop gashapon scheme which was banned both in Japan and abroad.

Sure we can always talk about stupid people wasting thousands on cash options that devs fart out in minutes. But the average person doesn't usually have much foresight or experience of better to know otherwise, doesn't matter if they're rich, poor, addicted or mentally ill.

Yeah, it's easy to deride someone from the position of hearing about it later, but humans are amazingly weak to gambling. It's why casinos get heavily regulated and there are agencies to help people with gambling addictions. I hope stuff like this causes governments to regulate mobile games more like the slot machines they pretty much are.

Actually, in some ways gatcha games are even worse than regular gambling, because with regular gambling at least you have the chance of winning actual money instead of just a picture of a girl or virtual sword or whatever.
>>
>>13959702
What would you even gain from saving Kamina & Kittan. A subpilot who has to share robots who doesn't even get Spiral Power and a mediocre side character in a literal memebot.

At least with the Fafner kids between the Siegfried and Gordian Crystals you'd have an entire army of walking death.
>>
>>13959795

Its not too bad if you've got a proper team which can sweep the + badguys, but its hard getting all the team needed for that. My FF6 and FFX teams are ridiculous, but my FF7 team has to be carried hard by Cloud and Seph, and thursdays are a clusterfuck because noone has FF3 characters or equipment. I do kinda wish they could make them more fun somehow, but apparently they're mixing the Dailies up in a few months to put in ++ Difficulty, so that might help.
>>
>>13959808
Do you have Sentinel/Stormlance Grimoire? 'cause I could understand people using Tyro if they had one of those.

My slot machine luck has been so bad at giving me mage-gear (Magical Mog and Wyrmfang; that is IT) I basically can't use a black mage who's not Lulu, and it's hard finding a slot for her because I really, really need 2 people who can use Breakdowns. If I could get a relic on someone who has 4/5* support, I could make them one of my physical DPS characters. At least I have Squall's SSB, level 80 Lightning, and her Blazefire Saber for damage.
>>
>>13959812
The only Mahjong that should be played is Memory Mahjong.
>>
>>13959825
>Do you have Sentinel/Stormlance Grimoire?

Stormlance, I already mastered that and the Celebration Grimoires for when Synergy weapons outdamage it since I have Tyro do whatever I need him to do and he's almost always a frontline fighter.

I'm waiting on the FFIV event to get the wardrobe change for Rydia and a proper weapon for Kain.
>>
>>13959819
>but apparently they're mixing the Dailies up in a few months to put in ++ Difficulty, so that might help.
1) ++ Daily is going to happen soon (JP got it around the anniversary). It's 30 stam x 3 stages, and the drop rates on 4/5* orbs is higher.
2) Sometime in June, probably, or maybe July, they're resetting the dailies and their first-time rewards to make a permanent collection event where you get gysahl greens from enemy drops or as the "always clear" item and you use the gysahl to buy stuff like blank MC1s and 2s, orbs, and at one point accessories from Ultimates. they're also making the rewards for Dailies match up with Orbfests: So 2/2/3/4/5/5* orbs on the first-time clears.

>>
>>13959886
Well, character bonus is only 10 levels' worth, but they get +50% exp. Equipment bonus is +30 levels, which is why 3*++ weapon RS is usually barely 5* level or maybe a bit more. The more a piece of equipment gets per level, the more it'll get with RS.
>>
>>13959588
Wasn't GF one of the most popular mobage out there? Because there's actual characters instead of cards and such?
I hope this deals a great blow to mobage and gets regulated much more. Or better yet kills it completely.
>>
>>13959702
Every fafners
>>
>>13959916

The Item Bonus level is actually dependent on the level of the item.

Level 1-4 +15
Level 5-9 +20
Level 10-14 +30
Level 15-19 +40
Level 20-24 +50
Level 25-29 +60
Level 30 +70

Of course, its usually not worth it to try making a 5++ item (unless you're relying on Retaliate). The softcaps on Attack and Magic make getting past 300 or so have a lot of diminishing returns.

>Actually, in some ways gatcha games are even worse than regular gambling, because with regular gambling at least you have the chance of winning actual money instead of just a picture of a girl or virtual sword or whatever.
Then imagine the horror of combining cash shop + gacha + gambling + virtual items into some kind of monstrousity.

Because that is what I was talking about being outlawed years back.

Idea was that you'd pay cash on the cash shop to enter a lucky dip type grab bag for items. These would be regularly refreshed every few weeks to create urgency and with various items of varying drop rates with the top prizes being stupidly rare and common items being not even good for toilet paper with ridiculously high success rates. Sometimes some of the items in these promotions would be released on the cash shop itself for triple the price to egg you into trying your luck, so idea was it might be 'cheaper'.

Some particularly dickish games then proceeded to drop in mystery prizes into these lucky dips as the top prize. Then it turned out you had to collect a set of them from various dips to even open them, they were worthless on their own in true gasha style.

Ultimately the kicker was that when you got the full set the mystery prize was ANOTHER lucky dip for a single prize and the rates and item distributions were virtually the same as the regular ones, just with a unique top prize.

I can think of numerous MMO's that pulled this shit but you might have even accidentally seem some firsthand so I don't need to name any.

Well, we don't know how this game would play out. He might come pretty early. The anon never specified, but if Kamina's up for grabs and we already have Fafner timeskips we're probably going to have him in the first half/third of the game and keep him for most of it.

Also, I might be forgetting, but didn't he have a barrier too? And his attack power would be great in a game that included his finisher as more than a HE DEAD animation.

La Gias allows polygamy
>>
>>13960117
Actually yes, SMT Online was in fact one of the most infamous cases of it among other bullshit it pulled, mainly because it actually is a Japanese based game so got hit directly. But that game had so many disgusting problems all round. That is disregarding the horrific localization which actually managed to make everything worse to the point of being a small internet legend in itself.

Some other known ones off the top of my head I think did it at some point are Cosmic Break (though it was fairly mild I recall), S4 League, ZT Online.
>>

PSO2 has a roll you can play using points gotten using real money to get costumes or parts for Casts. Before the law passed, if you won all the costumes in a current rollist, you'd get a special costume, like a Rappy suit.
>>
>>13960173
Didn't know about PSO2 also doing that, how roughly expensive was it? I'm interested if it was a relatively small annoyance or mortgage defaulting mugging level.

There's one gacha that's 200 AC/yen each draw that has costumes and other items.

Keep dreaming anon.

Modern remake games have always been a mixed bag or been straight up worse than it's original.

>Impact
Horrific stage count bloat, painfully slow to play as well, took forever to do anything.

>MXP
Massive HP bloat, completely stripped down barebones GUI, huge load times when released.

>AP
Again massive HP bloat, actually bugged accuracy/evade, dropped music from the original.

>XO
Mostly randomly re-ordered some GC stages and dropped a few secrets I recall. Though the extra gameplay features minor as they were weren't completely bad.

>OGs
Overall improvement for OG1 but the OG2 half of the game was just poorly balanced with the gameplay re-design and randomly got rid of the excellent final stage from the GBA game.

Did they? I thought the only thing they did to the stages was threw like one more in and doubled the Sub Scenario count or something.

One. They couldn't get the license to Raijin-Oh's OVA, so Kyodai Karakuri Raijin-Oh had to be left out.

If all the changelogs I've seen about GC to XO are accurate, I think it was a net positive remake. It's just, it got thrown on a console that was even more than DOA in Japan and had region lock.

Everything hits like a truck in OG2 but that doesn't exactly make it anywhere close to difficult either. If anything, DP is the hardest OG has ever gotten due to weird victory/SR point requirements, game over if anyone dies, only having 5-7 units at any time, and only 3-4 of those ever actually being worth a shit. Thank fuck Shu can cheese the hell out of the final boss because that stage is practically a normal lategame SRW stage except you have about a sixth of the amount of units on your side, and only one is endgame worthy.
>>

>It's just, it got thrown on a console that was even more than DOA in Japan and had region lock.
Still sold more than OE amazingly and I think the reason they region locked it despite the 360 being technically region free was because it had a online game component to it. It was where all those weird enemy only combo attacks and crossovers came from.
>>
>>13960769
And that online component later got made into its own game, called Super Robo Gakuen.

>>
>>13960682
OGs and AP were still using the fixed accuracy modifier, and AP was a mix of enemy stats and nerfing the fuck out of player stat growth. There are people in AP who barely have 300 hit at level 99. Nobody in OGs, not even Radha "Worst Stat Growth Type In The Game", is that low.
>>
>>13960660

>>

With the exception of J, they all barely had animations. Rifle/sword appears out of nowhere and the unit shoots/static sprite moves forward to slash tier animation.
>>

It's just mechanics. R and D's sprite work generally looks pretty good. To me, at least.

>enemy evasion jumped up faster than your accuracy did
Ow what? How?
>>
>>13960920

Even for the non-generic attacks. Most of them simply had cut-ins somewhere in the animation to give them more substance and a few lucky ones had special sprites for their finishers. I think Great Mazinger's great booster was one of the lucky ones and if I remember well, Godmars had a sprite showing its back after the slash.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFzPM_DYYyA

It's not J but it's certainly not THAT static. Even the ones that don't look as fancy as Forte Gigas still have more animation than what you're describing.

Oh I know, R was basically a slight step up from A anyways. I think even the Excellences only got like 2 sprites each, if even that, the only things with any real animation were projectiles and beams.

But OG1, OG2, and D have bits of what was obviously leading up to however they managed to do the animations seen in J.
>>
J was pretty much a DS game in the GBA. It had no business being that well done sprite and animation wise in a gba.
>>
>>13961034
Well it helped that a large amount of animations could be basically copy-pasted between units (Aesties, Brains, a lot of Gundam related stuff like the METEOR packs, etc) and reusing a lot of stuff like that exploding ground animation during a lot of attacks, Zi Gadin's finisher sharing part of its animation with Blaster Voltekka, etc. A lot of really clever reuse was involved.

Time to go find the movie. One other question, though - does the movie expand on that fucking fox talking to the drama club president about the Cybodies, or is that never going to get explained at all?

>>13961034
I wouldn't quite say that. Compare animations between the series that got into J and W, most of them got touched up on at the very least or heavily altered (FMP units). And W's animations were less pretty than L's most of the time.

J wasn't bad, but it's more the middle ground between DS and the GBA.

About the gacha shit in games earlier, are there any cases of a mobile game consciously-skewing gacha rolls depending if the player is F2P or pays money? Because I swear that's what Brave Exvius is doing. I quit because I kept getting the same characters over and over despite the 3* pool actually being fairly-large and that being the most-common rarity type in the gacha currency pool.

More like the stages are too big and the reinforcements rarely spawn near you. It's not even that the enemy density is THAT BAD.

Weird mathematics. I think when they were programming the game they were asleep at the wheel and gave mooks player-like stat growth or something.

>>
>>13961109
>outlier
Not really, it's just the worst of the bunch. Reinforcements nearly always spawn on the opposite side of the map from where the previous wave was, and nearly every stage has reinforcements. SEED, Layzner, Brain Powered, Tekkaman, G Gundam, and Fury grunts are particularly bad when it comes to spawning a longass distance away, and that's like half of the cast list.

I'm probably going to rewatch that punch multiple times, it was a thing of beauty.

>>13961115
Pretty good overall. It's episodic and a lot of people hate that, but I don't, so it's cool. The lesbian duo taking over a portion of the show was annoying, although I think it's far more annoying that the "fusing with their mech" thing happened literally one time and was never done again (I would have loved to have seen Takutoburn at the very least). Also, the show had one episode too few, I feel like the ending could have used more - in particular, explaining what the fuck was up with the drama club president, but also extending the Samekh battle because it was way too short for something with that potential threat level.

Overall, it was... let's say a 7.5 or so out of 10, with 10/10 being like Gaiking LoDM and Xabungle and 0/10 being things like Tobikage and New Dunbine. I generally liked it, but it could have used a bit more, and there were some problems.
>>

>>13961169
>0/10 being things like Tobikage and New Dunbine

Now I'm not knocking your taste cause I've never seen either of these shows, just what SRW did to them, but what makes them so horrible? Tobikage was on my backlog and I never really see discussion of it so that was surprising to read.
>>
>>13961169
That seems fair, about the same rating I'd give it. I do want to see it in a SRW game just to see those attacks again and the music. Though it brings up a problem with the plot again.

Well I mean the whole "Cybodies cannot leave this place until all the maidens have their seals broken"
>>
>>13961186
I've said it multiple times, so I'll get to Tobikage second, but I'll start with New Dunbine.

New Dunbine's is a reincarnation tale involving the reincarnation of Shou fighting the reincarnation of Burn. Except this Shou is shacking up with Rimul, because apparently Marvel Frozen was completely forgotten about by Byston Well in EVERY SINGLE OTHER STORY, and their relationship has all the fire left in a pile of ash. There's about two cool characters in the show, one of whom never gets any focus and dies in the most pathetic way possible and the other one being the original Shot Weapon, still alive because Jacoba Aon was an even BIGGER fucking idiot than the show made her out to be, and he's planning evil plans, and it looks cool! ...until it turns out his plan is to somehow launch a nuke in the Aura Road to do things that we never find out because he wants to die or some stupid shit. The mech combat is barely there, the villain only becomes interesting when he realizes what Shot's plan is and tries to stop him... and is immediately murdered by the PROTAGONIST for his troubles. Because the protag's a fucking moron.

Oh, but it does have the mythical, fantastic creatures like the original Byston Well! Like all the fairies... wait, no, there's only one of those. And all the big horrible animals... dragons die like mooks in this and the only other animal shows up for about two seconds. No, instead of those, let's focus on some horrible tentacle centipede wiggling its arms as the only thing moving onscreen for like eight fucking minutes, that's fun.

Sirbine and Zwauth look cool, but they never move. Well, ok, I'll be fair, the painting style they have going on is kind of cool... and vanishes in episode 3, leaving them with barely any movement and no coolness left to them because they still hardly do shit. Yay.

So basically New Dunbine has nothing actually good about it, and what little it does have vanishes by the end. Woo.
>>
>>13961210
Oh the whole thing about finding ninjas to pilot the robot you're piloting right now?
>>
>>13961208
So just bullshit it. Banpresto has reconciled trickier settings before.
>>
>>13961210
Tobikage... Tobikage starts poorly and doesn't get better. I should note that when I go into a series, any number of things can keep me actually continually watching. If the plot's good, I follow for that, if the combat's good I follow for that, if I like the characters I go on for that... Tobikage had me going because I wanted to believe that ONE OF THOSE THINGS WOULD SHOW UP EVENTUALLY. AND IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Ok, so, central plot premise is that a bunch of aliens come to Earth after their homeworld was taken over by a horrible alien empire! They stop by on Mars, and find three people who can pilot their giant robots, which require ninjas to pilot. The group then goes to Earth to search for ninjas.

(if you can see the obvious flaw in that, good job, you're about half the show ahead of the entire cast.)

On top of that, on Mars's pole, they pick up a new friend, who comes from a tribe of what are clearly ninjas who do what are clearly ninja things. This is also not brought up until about halfway through the show, at which point said character "suddenly remembers" he knew of legends of the ship he was on for years and had some sort of device that might help it, but he lost it. Spoilers - it was in his headband the whole time. The entire goddamn show they could have solved multiple central issues by just sitting down and thinking for a second.

Now, most of the Elshank crew wants to murder Joe and the humans who are the only things protecting them, and normally I'd hate that because it's common and also dumb. But I give them half a pass, because Joe is absolutely fucking terrible, as is Rene. (Mike is the best character in the show by virtue of not being horrible, Damian is the aforementioned ninja so fuck him) It's bad enough that Yllbora defects to Zaboom, and... ok Yllbora's a giant fucking glaring idiot too. And it's not like Zaboom are cool villains either, they're just... villainous and there. (word count)
>>
>>13961232
Oh, and if UX made you believe that Hazard Passha was some master schemer, forget it. He's not. He's just the only person in the entire Earth Alliance who's head is not permanently stuck so far into the Earth, it's in the Earth's magma core. Joe's one friend is kind of better than them, but the amount of shit they have to do to convince everyone that the aliens razing cities = evil and the ones avoiding collateral damage with Martian citizens on their side = good is astounding.

But hey, the mech designs are good, right? Eh... I mean, they are, but there's only so many times you can watch the same stock footage sequences of mecha fighting before you go "Jesus Christ do something goddam new already" no matter how good they look. That's sort of why I don't mind old MotW - the new monsters mean new animation every episode, even if there is stock. With Tobikage, that's not there. Also, Tobikage itself is annoying in that there's the central premise of it combining with the main robots, but it doesn't fucking do that very often at some points, which lead to the situation that Bakuryu's really cool dragon form is used LITERALLY TWICE and only wins one battle (though it only lost to Zerokage because of a really bad bout of luck - which brings up the question of why they didn't do it again, but the protags are idiots so.). Why even bother having that form, then? Dunno.

Oh, and then after all that dumb shit, two episodes from the end, it looks like shit is going to go down finally. Hazard is dead, they're going to chase Zaboom back to Radorio and kill him, Tobikage and Zerokage are together, the Elshank goes Golden Glowing Hyper Mode (one of the first in anime, before even Dragon Ball Z!), shoots across the galaxy, and... the final two episodes are fucking clip shows. What in the name of fuck.

So, bad plot, bad characters, bad mech combat... yeah, nothing worth watching there.
>>
>>13961210
>>13961232
Wow, that's...truly awful. Like amazingly terribad. I have a hard time grasping the concept that someone wrote a plot like this.

Why must good mech designs be stuck in plots like this?
>>
>>13961253
As an aside, I think Wings of Rean was better than New Dunbine. See, WoR I can actually see them making decent if they had, you know, actually made a 13 episode series instead of a 6 episode one, because its main problem was that everything was fucking rushed out the door and nothing had time to establish itself. With New Dunbine, I can't really say it would be good unless you did things to the extent of "throw half of this out the window and fill it in with good things."
>>
>>13961208

You know, I don't think that would be as much of a problem in SRW, to be honest... But the real problem is justifying all that effort in the first place.

"Oh boy, we're going to bring these Cybodies into the real world, and then we'll take over the wo- what's that? Robots have been in a thing in our world for like ten years now? Well, uh, our robots are SHINIER!"

It works in Star Driver because Cybodies are well over the tech of Earth at that time, rated to survive nukes (theoretically?) and because it's all secretly a plot by Head to release Samekh to do his own shit because he's a goddamn idiot.

I look at TE's twitter but I'm not actually registered on the site so I can't post there.

Can someone go laugh at him in my stead?

Fuck I was actually looking forward to that game. Sasuga Fatlus.

Man, how long until this bullshit comes to SRW?
>>
>>13961369
Ok, so time for my shitty opinions:

Touya: Looks better
Calvina:I'd like the no stockings look more, but her new design is overall better.
Katia: Pretty much the same, but they added way too many "petals" on her new jacket.
Melua: Where do I even begin? Many of the additions are nice, but her new costume is way too over design. Cutting back on a few things (the butterflies, the flower petals, or the pattern on her skirt) would make her look way better.
Tenia: Worse since they took away the hatching on her cheeks, and the shape of her face is worse now.
>>
>>13962044
Sad part is I would be down with spending my money like that.
>>
>>13962044
what's going on?

Is more shit from Tokyo Mirage Sessions (aka Hashtag FE) being censored? Or DLC out of the ass?

Possibilities going by Bamco's track record...

Repeatable stage where you get tons of PP: $3

Repeatable stage where you get tons of EXP: $3

tl;dr The SMT4 Final secret dungeon is incomplete, ends with a "buy DLC to finish the dungeon" message.
>>
>>13962085
>Also, for $5 you can get a special item that boosts your drop rate 10x!
Forgot to mention, the drop rate buff only lasts 24 hours so remember to buy energy drinks to recharge your meter multiple times to make full use of it

>tl;dr The SMT4 Final secret dungeon is incomplete, ends with a "buy DLC to finish the dungeon" message.

fucking Gay.

The Neptuina personification of Bamco (B-Sha) is spot on with what Bamco is doing (aka she will charge for her services, AFTER she helps people)

>>13962085
$3 gets you the Neo Granzon and Possession Masoukinshin because why the fuck not.
>>
>looking through my music
>"Shin Super Robot Wars - This World Has Been Waiting For Us (Unused Track)"

Oh god, I don't think it's even been a year but it feels so long ago. Is that on Youtube? If not, it should be.
>>
>>13962111
>$3 gets you the Neo Granzon and Possession Masoukinshin
Don't be silly, they're $3 each and then you still have to pay ridiculous amounts of in-game money to actually get them. Grinding for the in-game money too difficult? Well, that's what

>Repeatable stage where you get tons of money: $3

is for
>>
>>13962085
You aren't even thinking scummy enough.

Enemy Unit DLC that lets you use non-pilot locked AI units.
>>
>>13962127
No, you misunderstand. It's $3. Per use. Game overs require repurchase.
>>

It's too late for me.
The gacha cannot be put off for long.
>>

>>
>>13962386
Green Hair.

Like, honestly not even a hard choice.

I'll be perfectly honest with you. I completely forgot she existed, only girls I remember were the maidens and the lesbians.

Morning!
>>
Aaaaand I just spent the last two hours compressing 27 episodes of Gaiking LoDM into 9 stages. Sort of wish I had a proper 10 to add one more in, but I couldn't stretch the other route split without going all Shin Style Filler on things.

Next in terms of final plotting - the early-mid Japan chapters, the start of like half the series, and the continuation of Getter, Mazinger, and pals. Man, this segment alone might take 10 or so parts, not sure how to fix that..
