You don't use Decieve in UX to attack, you use it to spam Nerve Crack and resupply. Also I think they get Confuse at one point, that's always useful.
And then you start getting more AoE buffs (especially with Pretender, who has exactly the same Nerve Crack but on what's pretty much a Valkyrie instead of a fat support unit, though he comes really late) so the utility kind of fades.

Not in this particular game. In SRC Dungeon so far, the only playable Transformers are Optimus Prime who upgrades into Star Convoy from Transformers Z, the above seen Hot Rodimus/Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus (representing Mystery of Convoy, so he's a one-hit-point-wonder with multiple lives and a super mode), and Optimus Primal and his transmetal upgrades. G1 Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave can show up as level bosses as well.
SRC itself, or at least the large collection of unit data already compiled by the community does have data for those characters, though, as well as many more across the different series, international and Japan-only.

All you need to know for Persona 2 is that there was a group of high schoolers who went on trippy adventures and fought some asshole named Kandori, who got taken over by his Persona Nyarlathotep because when your inner self is the fucking Crawling Chaos you deserve what you get.
Persona 2 takes place a few years later and you get to meet some of the P1 characters, but the game will tell you who they are and it's really more of a cute bonus for the fans.
There is a manga, though, and it's not bad. Much better than playing the game, and it'll get to just as prepared for P2.

The Sakura Wars units as a whole are interesting in their implementation. I've just been piecing together details from what little moon I know, since I can't actually field them on this file with all units collected (the game glitches out and closes since it never accounts for someone collecting everything).
At Kohbu level Oogami can "equip" a number of girls to act as a one-active-at-a-time summon that have combo moves with him, and at Sohbu level he simply selects one as a co-pilot that also dictates his move-list.

The SRC files have a section for it and it was something that Super G Robot Wars recently decided to add in alongside Giant Robo and GaoGaiGar FINAL.Sadly, "recently" was about half a year ago, so I'm not holding out much hope for it to be completed any time soon if ever, despite it looking to be a pretty ridiculous and fun romp. I check in on http://www.gsc.ne.jp/ every so often to look for updates, and from the looks of things there's topics for people discussing and formulating information for series and units and the like, and the site itself occasionally updates sections with new stuff that gets applied to different packs and sections like units, pilots, sprites, etc.

Combiners tend to have this, the game throws so many at you and every now and then you'll find a unit without a sprite.
