***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!

Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Based on comparison pics the gusion frame has a few differences from the barbatos frame. Mainly different hardpoint/connection points for attaching the armor. So a barbados frame won't work with it.

>>13925786
There's a variety of methods you can use for panel lining, and which you use depends on how you apply your paint. Air brushing, for example, is usually light enough that you won't fill in the panel lines and can just go over them with your preferred method. You can also use air brushing to pre-shade the panel lines with a darker coat.

Refer to this video for some insightful hints.

How would you mod a HG Jegan's head to fit a LED? I am having issues especially thinking about how to fit the neck after putting the LED.
>>
>>13926316
You can either carve out some of the pieces in the head and fit a regular bulb in, or get an SMD LED and mount it in there with less carving.

There's also doing fiber optic and placing the bulb in a larger space in the torso.
>>
>>13926367
>or get an SMD LED and mount it in there with less carving
The SMD LED I can get are around 2mm, "regular" LED are 3 mm. Not a big difference.
The main issue would still be fitting the neck in place and taking/hiding the terminals outside the head.

You just need to be a little creative. If the 2mm is the smallest you can readily obtain, think of other ways around it. I'm not entirely informed on the framework of a Jegan's head, let along a 1/144 scale, so I can't say for certain how to fit it.

Yeah, we're definitely not selling you left over Zakus we tossed random shit on. No sirree these are legit, brand new Mobile Suits."
At least, I understand that's the lore behind TITANS' default suit being the Hi-Zack instead of some sort of GM.

Aren't you both right? I thought the Hi-Zack's deal was that its reactor could support beam weapons, but was too weak to support more that one at a time. It could, for instance, handle a Beam Saber, but only if it carried a slug based weapon, and if it carried a Beam Rifle, it had to carry its Heat Hawk.

I dunno, I think I remember hearing that too, but it kind of doesn't make sense when you consider that it'll never use both weapons at the same time. The specs say the reactor output is also stronger than the original GM or Gundam's reactor.

Bah, who knows. Specs are made up and so are the quirks of each MS. This isn't the thread for it, anyway.

RGs so fucking white.
I got most of the gundams and my shelf is looking real white.
That's why I got the Titans mkII and Type F.
Most of the guys who got the Exia opted for the 3rd party R3 conversion instead.
But ehh, whatever floats your boat.

>>
>>13928068
Its hardly ever mentioned but the Gundam has 7 generators around it to make electricity from that fancy reactor, thats why its the only thing that can use a beam rifle for so long. Other MS like the Dom have a decent reactor but can't power a beam rifle.

What really sucks is the only MS I really absolutely wanted a kit of from that series was the Hecate. And they didn't make one. And I don't understand why. Because of this I haven't bought any G-reco kits. Not as a boycott or anything but because there was no other MS from the series (aside from the G Self reflector pack which I would have picked up if it was a normal release but I couldn't justify going p-bandai for it) so because of this I didn't experience the style of any of the G reco kits which kinda sucks because maybe there was another one out there I would have enjoyed building if I initially was able to make the Hecate and see what the kits are like. I have sometimes almost bought a Grimoire when shopping but have always ended up getting a different kit instead from a line that I already know , for the most part, what to expect from it.

You should go ahead and pick up the Grimoire, fun to build.

As for the Hecate not having a kit, the rumors and speculation for it is that Bandai was simply wasn't expecting G-reco gunpla to sell at all and just released the initial MS that showed up. When the Gunpla line did very well, they hurried to release the later MS (Gastima et al) but didn't bother with releasing the Hecate and others that came out in the middle.

So I've been relooking through the various guides on proper seam welding and pre-building before painting, and they often say to cut the prongs on some pieces into a 45' angle so they're easier to pry apart. But wouldn't this make them harder to stay together for the final build too? Do I superglue/cement them back together after I'm ready for them to stay together permanently?
>>
>>13931454
Well no and yes. The Seam welding WELDS the seams together. So you don't need to super glue them together cause you're gonna cement them together when you seam weld.

I use the Gundam markers that are like pens, but they're still quite thick. There is a special type of Q-Tip that is pointed, it is used for makeup. These are invaluable for panel lining/panel washes and work well with Gundam markers.

90% of the time, I'm only using the Gundam markers for black. If you don't need the distinctive pop of black, a 0.2/0.3 mechanical pencil works fine.

What are your guys' experiences with finding model kits at B&N?

I've been to several of them and the ones around me either don't have them or the entire thing is just one shelf hidden in the corner of the toy section,
>>
>>13932038

B&N is a chain. Every store has the same inventory of gunpla. The selection is narrow. Mostly Build Fighters. Usually it is one shelf. There is a fair bit of markup. I do not buy gunpla from B&N.

This is somewhat misleading. A lot of them put out product in waves or whenever product runs out so they get a lot of different stuff sometimes. Still he's right, the markup is shit. Don't buy unless there's a huge sale.

Is ship plamo the very last level of scale models?
Gundam kits are like baby rattle toys compared to this.

This is the right attitude. Just pretend that you never made the order as best you can. Counting the days is the worst thing you can do.

that actually isn't bad, i paint faces on miniatures a lot smaller than that frontmost gun, and with more than one shaky edge highlight. water though, water is still a mystery

I actually thing the REVIVE Gouf is the single most delayed release I've ever seen. It was announced last fall or summer and it's been over 6 months.

If I remember correctly, the general consensus on the FSS kits was that they had a million parts, were very fragile, and looked very nice if you put the work in and didn't want them to move very much.

HLJ has it listed as an April release. It'll be a while.

>>
>>13932690

>>
>>13932702
but it's a traditional Strike color.
