***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!

Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

All I want to see is a motive. Just a reason as to why this one guy has spent the last eight months of his life almost daily filling up a thread with the same images over and over. Is he bad at building model kits and was shunned because he was told to git gud? Is he mad that these threads are fairly populated? Did a 1/12th scale RX-78-2 rape his mother as a kid? Or is it just a simple "not /m/" spam? What would bring a man to care this much about a single thread on a Taiwanese automaton board?

Also good job jinxing it.

A year ago he posted his crappy snap fit, nubby, unlined kits and nobody circlejerked him like on reddit, so upon realizing that /m/ has no mods or janitors he started spamming and shitposting for attention. He tries every now and again to do the same on /toy/ but the mods there delete his posts whenever they notice them and the gunpla thread there has mostly learned to ignore him.
>>
>>13762840
He isn't a mod. Either the people supposedly getting banned were the shitposter himself claiming it or a random mod didn't understand what was going on and threw out a ban for what he thought was abusing the report function. If he was a mod he would just be deleting the threads or peoples posts outright.

And a mod has temporarily banned him before and we managed to have a couple threads without him in them.

The long version of the answer is it's rather slow right now. Give it a watch and make your own decisions I guess, but even I find it kinda boring right now. Needs more mecha action in general, but maybe moving forward we'll get some more.

The Graze is a delicious design though (I have a McGillis Custom too on my Backlog), I'll agree with that. And I like Barb too.

It's finally done. I can understand why people love MGs so much; the way the pieces layer on each other to make the frame is great, and although there's detail it doesn't go overboard, unlike the RGs. Now I'm wondering if I should apply the decals, because I like how clean it looks without them.

One thing I noticed: the shield and the wings have holes in the right places for a landing gear, but there's none in the kit. Did it come with some special version, or is it just a dropped gimmick?

Ok, so I changed the tubes on my custom cold type zaku to match the ones on the legs. I also changed the wires that went from the backpack to the pistol with a "cold" tube. tI personally am enjoying IBO so far. Sure there are shortcomings here and there but also I have yet to see a 100% perfect gundam series that doesn't have any shortcomings of it's own. Of course some have very many while others have very few. I feel it's still to early in the show to give a definitive opinion of whether it's bad or good though. You should at least give it a try so you can form your own opinion of it.

This is also coming from a person whose not that big of a fan of the design of the Barbatos either. It has some cool moments but overall it's not really my style. The Graze and it's variants are amazing on the other hand. Also there are some other creative designs that turned out pretty cool, I really like the Hyakuren.
>>
>>13764536
I'm the complete opposite
none of the IBO designs have really caught my interest, they just don't fell right to me
stil, the other day some guy here posted an awesome dark souls artorias custom, and I think the IBO kits may just allow one to pull off a knight themed custom
>>
>>13764544
I like IBO's aesthetic and gunpla design because it's very modular and straightforward at times and complicated and weird at others. Also the allowing for mix and matching and having a lot of inner-frame parts on some kits allows you to explore small custom jobs for the average gunpla-goer.

Looks pretty good, what tools are you using? I suggest making sure you have thin enough sanding implements for all of the complex surfaces on gunpla

Also sometimes when two halves are so disjointed like on old kits, or if you have a repair to do from having to separate previously glued parts you might want to get some dissolved putty, which you can paint onto the glued section and then sand down. This is super helpful on curved surfaces where you want a smooth finish but not a "flat spot" that can happen from sanding down far enough to get smooth. It can also be used to fill pits and gaps.

The front of the bottom legs here was really bad, so I just coated the whole thing in dissolved putty. When you seamweld with only sanding, you can only ever subtract material, often too much if the parts are badly mismatched. With sanding and putty you can both add and subtract to the surface to get it flat in line with everything else.

I had to redo the top half of the leg on the right, so you can see how messy the cement made the line when I reattached them, I sanded down the excess, then used the same putty process to build it back up, then smoothed it out so there were no flat spots on that super round part.

>>13764674

even though the weld on the top of the leg was so bad initially because I had to pry it apart after realizing my mistake, by using both subtraction through sanding and addition via putty, I could keep the whole surface curved properly without any flat spots where the seams were

Excuse my idiocy, but can anyone speak for the quality of the Wing Zero Custom Perfect Grade?

Just asking because it's from 2000, and I'm looking for a good Wing Zero Custom (and Wing Zero/Wing) to start off my Wing series collection.
>>
>>13764794
I've only built the arms so far, but they seem okay if not for the armor pieces not fitting properly on the top(not shoulders but the stuff surrounding the peg).
>>
>>13764794
I haven't built it personally but from what I have heard, it is the worst out of all the PGs. I would suggest the RG since it's the newest version of it but if you're not into 1/144 kits, you could always go for the MG; I haven't heard anything negative about that kit. Plus if your gonna start with a wing series collection it would probably be smart to go with the MG so that you can get the rest of the gundams from the series in the same scale.

reposting from meme thread cause I'm stupid
"pic of my first actual attempt at seam welding, looks not the best, as you can tell. part of it probably looks as bad as it does is because when I got an acrylic finishing set as a gift, it had another bottle of cement in it, so I used that, without reading how it was for clear parts, making me sand it down and apply normal cement. I also accidentally glued in the bending polycap on the thigh the wrong way, so I had to split it and re cement. planning on sanding a bit more and doing more touch up work tomorrow."

I remember buying this Green and Blue months ago to use for my Gato Custom Rick-Dom, but think i'll do his Gelgoog instead. anything else i should have gotten before i start? from pictures i've seen i could probly just use the default color for the torso but it would look odd against all that painted blue.

Whenever I see this picture, I wonder internally if the Bandai red LED just slots right into the MK-II. Official or not, the red makes it look so much more fucking sinister than the green.
>>
Quick question.

I've got an MG V2 ver. Ka arriving later this week, and I'm pretty fucking pumped for it. If it lives up to my hype, I'm thinking about grabbing the other ver. Kas from Victory. What I want to know is, is there anything in the regular Victory that isn't in the V-Dash? I'm left wondering because, according to HLJ, the V-Dash came out in 2010 and the Victory in 2012... did they just release a stripped-down version two years later?
>>
>>13765371
Victory was first, then V-Dash a short time later. And they're almost the same exact model, so much so that you could buy the MG Victory and the MG V Core Booster set to make V-Dash
>>
>>13765390
Also should mention V-Dash has all the weapons and equipment. Victory has just basic stuff
>>
>>13765371
HLJ has their dates screwed up. MG Victory ver.Ka was released in 2009 and the MG V-dash and the booster were released in the same month in 2010. The MG V-dash is just the victory kit and the booster kit in the same box.

Don't trust HLJ for dates on stuff.
>>
>>13765390
>>13765434
Okay, that makes a lot more sense.

Thanks, guys.

Hi everyone, a rather new and inexperienced gunpla builder here, I was building a Hi-Nu Ver. Ka, my third master grade, and I lost one of the polycaps. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement?
>>
>>13765502
You can usually by parts or runners through Ebay and some other markets.

If the seller has the kit listed but not the part or section you need, send them a message and ask if they have it.
>>
I was thinking of collecting the S1 Gundam Meisters, should I get the HGs or the 1/100s?
>>
>>13765542
Why not both?
>>
>>13765556
Because I don't really like having multiples of one thing.
>>
>>13765542
the S1 1/100s are alot nicer than the HGs, though get the MG Exia for obvious reasons.

S2 you would be better off sticking with HGs because you can get the heavy weapons versions and a GN Archer, though the 1/100 Designers Colors look really nice.
>>
>>13765529
I ordered off of amazon, and the seller has no replacement policy, just return and refund policies. I also checked multiple websites that sell replacement parts and can't find the hi-nu among the kits with replacement parts, do you happen to know any kits that share polycaps with it?
>>
>>13765567
I don't really have a interest in the S2 Meisters.

Also, is there much difference between the 1/100 and MG Exias?

Got my monoeye and inner head done and some of the metallic parts of the chest. For the eye I went kinda old school, I got a set of model car lenses from a local hobby shop and did a light coat of clear red to turn them pink. The lenses work well because they are cheap and not only is the top curved, but the metallic back is as well, which gives the eye a lot of depth and reflects light in neat ways from different angles.

Now that the image spammer who wants you to move to his hug-box on /toy/ is thwarted, I'm going to let you in on a huge problem with the HGUC Nu. Because the connector to the action base is a rotating polycap, it has the unfortunate side-effect of leaning to the side the funnels are on.
