I guess Sanbondo figured out people were looking at the data files to find shit out ahead of time, because a decent amount of the characters have placeholder in their sixth spirit slots.

RIP Marisa, her final spirit is Vigor.

Alright, /srwg/, you've been approached by Wish Granter, the Grant who Grants Wishes. Wish Granter (You can call him Grant, but he insists you call him W.G.) states that he will let you choose any one main character mech to have a SRC made of it, and you even get one free of charge. It can even be a pre-upgrade unit, like the Dunbine. The stipulation? It has to be from a series that has been in a SRW title from the past three years. OGs also count.

So, what'll it be?
>>
>>13742829
I wonder what her actual last spirit will be. Courage seems like the most probable option, but there are a few others that might conceivably work in that last slot.

Reimu, on the other hand, is very clearly going to get Soul.

>>
>>13742853
It was all in the FMW2 data files. The final spirits of the protagonists are:
Reimu: Soul
Marisa: Courage
Sakuya: Zeal
Youmu: Soul
Sanae: Zeal

Fun Fact: Only two characters got Love (the fully heal everyone version): Keine and Alice.
>>
>>13742851
Most of the applicable units are already in SRC
>>
>>13742881
Marisa really should have had Love somewhere in her spirit set.

MX's enemy density is a fucking joke (38/55 stages with less than 30 enemies), but that one takes the cake. And then shits on it.

Since I always give out SP Regen, I ended up using Yell and Rally a fuck of a lot of times.
>>
In OGs OG1, do you keep the upgrades/kills/money from one story once you complete it and go onto the next? (kyosuke mode stuff carrying over to ryusei mode)
>>
>>13742881
Wait, does that leave Sakuya with no damage multipliers? Wow, they really screwed her over in the later games.

>>13742885
Not really. The spirit is 愛, Marisa's stuff is all named with 恋. Two different things.
>>
>>13742980
Upgrades and kills don't carry into NG+. If you switch protags, yeah, you get standard carryover on money (50/75/100; doesn't matter how much you bounce around) and PP uses the same percentage but the actual amount carried over is based on what you acquired in toto, and then is redistributed evenly across the entire cast and added to their base value.
>>
>>13742989
Sakuya's supposed to have to Wrath or whatever its name.
>>
>>13742989
I dunno, Marisa always felt like the type they'd sooner give Drive or something to in normal SRW.

Whatever, the distribution for spirits these days are pretty fast and loose. Even Love got on someone's spirit set because of family love and not actual lovey-dovey shit.
>>
>>13743013
What the heck is that supposed to be?
>>
>>13742980
You get 50% of your total money earned as cash, and 50% of the grand total of PP you earned from all pilots is distributed evenly to all pilots on top of whatever amount of PP they would get when they first joined on a fresh run. On the third time through this rises to 75%, on a fourth run onward it rises to 100%.

In OGs you can also carry over from OG1 into OG2, from 2 into 2.5, and from 2.5 back into OG1. I believe the percentage kept is based on how many times you've completed that particular part of the game, so it's most efficient to run through the whole thing as if it was one giant 100+ stage game.

You know, with as much as I've been collecting and playing with SRC lately (and probably nearing the end of my fifteen minutes of notoriety now that I've gathered a majority of the content), I've been giving some thought to how the idea of SRC, with some refinement, could make for one of those "experimental" SRW games, like OE...except hopefully less likely to wind up with me as the only one who enjoyed it.

A game that focuses pretty much almost solely on content and graphics without a story, and perhaps different modes so that those who dislike the randomness could have a potential option to ensure they get series they like. Whether it'd be a base set of several series to begin with and some potential future DLC, or small batches of DLC given over a portion of half a year or so, until the licenses run out and the DLC is forced away, there would be tons upon tons of series and units included, alongside a bevy of OGs, and the graphics would be animated as top-tier as possible, whether that means a certain animation style or animation variants either between terrains like Z, or something like making even small upgrades change animations, like having Mazinger Z have a different animation for Rocket Punch depending on whether he has the Scrander or not.

It would also be a good way to include stuff that has potential difficulty going into SRWs where they're attempting a coherent story, whatever kind of series those might be.

Yeah, I know it's probably a terrible idea, but it's nice to imagine a reality where that sort of thing was a possibility.
>>
>>13743086
I want a new SRW with the replay value of randomness SRC has
and with an english translation of menus since there's no story anyway
or somebody just making SRC translated would be nice too
>>
>>13743058
He doesn't need incest ending though, remember? He has HIS OWN CLONE.

>>13743086
I had an idea for something like that once, you know. It was basically just that.
>>
>Deal 20,000 damage to Linebarrel
>It instantly regens 16,000 back
Fucking hell Kouichi
>>
>>13743033
x1.2 damage for a turn, no crits.

If someone has Wrath, that is basically the game slapping you upside the head and telling you to build them as a Support Attacker.
>>
>>13743086
If it wasn't for console jumps requiring an "upgrade" in graphical quality, doing a game like this after building up a collection of sprites from the other "mainline" SRW games would be the perfect time.

Though I think that still probably tops out at around... let's say 100 units or so. Only a fan-game could get away with including like 500 units in one game even if we do it through slowly adding DLC
>>
>>13743033
Guaranteed crits for a turn.

It's not particularly useful in practice, unfortunately. A 20% damage boost is nice enough, but most of the people who learn it already have high crit chances, and it's expensive enough that it's usually not worth using against grunts. So it basically ends up being a bootleg Triumph that costs more SP and doesn't affect both members of the pair.
>>
>>13743112
I thought that was translated to Fighting Spirit or something.

Damn SRW and the ever-changing Spirit Command names
>>
The decryption method works for the FMW4 demo too, but there is jack shit there beyond the game script.

I guess that means a translation LP for FMW4 is possible now too but ahahaha no.
>>
>>13743138
Text size limits are a bitch, what can you do.

If you include the unused spirits, FMW will have Rage, Wrath, and Fury as distinct spirits.
>>
>>13743127
True, though if you limit it mostly to main characters, that still could make for a potentially large amount of series to include and animations to put in. Recall that in my fantasy idea, we're imagining a SRW with series in excess of what OE had, and graphics level of 2nd OGs. (I guess that would be the best example of "good" animation in the series. I don't hear as many complaints for that style as there are for Z3's and BX's)

And much as people hate the concept, certain team-up attacks the series are known for could be "summon" moves. You could get away with stuff like maybe the Shuffle Alliance as their own units with attacks, but say something like Rom's combo with Jet, that's more understandable to turn into a combo-summon.

I don't think I've had a unit jump 250 kills in one stage before.
>>
>>13743573
Cobray jumped from 100 something to 400 or so in a single stage back in Alpha 3.
It was in stage 41 I think.

Coud kill like 10 squads per turn with Meth Asher counters, so, 30 units per turn at the bare minimum.
It was amazing.
>>
>>13743568
Both are Hasegawa mangas, so they have a combo.
>>
>>13743625
Makes sense, I figured it had to be something like that, though is there an actual instance of that combo like the voice drama stuff, or just fans taking it to the logical next step? I wouldn't be surprised if it all stemmed from a one-off drawing the author did.

Reading up on the mecha data itself in the files is kind of interesting, what with all the stuff that's omitted or being purposely(?) kept out. Vandread takes a decent chunk of text showing off a lot of...something.

It also showed me that a few mecha gain attacks from ranking up the machine's stats, much like the ones that learn some new moves from pilot levels. Gundam gaining the Hyper Hammer and Super Napalm, and Red Baron gaining an extra attack so far are the only examples I see of it, though.

My moon only goes so far, so if there's a clue to what I'm missing with Chirico and GaoGaiGar, I can't find it. This is irritating to an endless degree.

Well it IS Zhuge Liang. As far as fictional tacticians go he's always been incredibly bullshit. They're just reflecting it in gameplay.

A shame, too. He's so good some of the others have legitimately amazing effects (Soushi removes evasion decay, for god's sake) but end up just shit in comparison. And then BX went kinda lazy and gave two thirds of your tacticians "damage bonus against [enemy from character's show]", probably to avoid pulling the same thing again.

Sanae and Sakuya getting Zeal might actually be interesting if it weren't for the spirit getting a nerfbat in FMW4.

At least Youmu will actually have a niche again for dropping big finishers, that is unless Soul costs something silly. Since last I checked Sakuya, Youmu are amongst the bottom echelons for SP bases along with Reimu.

Sanae is the only human with a good SP base but she has a 95SP Miracle she also wants to use.

Stupid question I know but is there a way to have some of SRC's options in english?

Posted this in the last topic, I'll do more when I get the free time.

Most people play "Start3.eve", which is Cross Mode.

Start1.eve = Original
Start2.eve = Plus Mode
>>
>>13744711
There should be a post somewhere in the last thread that shows off a translation of the main menu at the least, if that would help. The SRC pastebin also has a few things like attack properties being shown off.

Other than that I don't think there's been any translations of anything else. If it were possible I'd love to start chronicling this stuff and translating it to the best of my abilities, with help from those more in the know about kanji, but that would be a big endeavor for a fan-based thing only a handful of people would play, and I wouldn't know where or how to begin.
>>
>>13744738

That'd be nice, but Touhou does still have more fans to actually care about having a page about it. Aside from that, gathering the details would definitely be a big endeavor. Not to mention keeping up with the updates that change things around a little each time.

I suppose there's stuff you could probably just transplant directly from the files of the game itself, but I once tried that in the hopes of looking up all the special abilities of different mecha, since a lot of machines have special abilities attached to them or their attacks that are worth a glance (even if a lot of them are basically just similar barriers with different names and costs/reductions), but there doesn't seem to be a database for that stuff anywhere I can find in the files.

Not to say I wouldn't probably be obsessive enough to take pictures of every ability in question, but again, that would require somebody else to care enough to help me. Not to mention I'm apparently crap enough at paint that I can't do much more than take screens of units; I couldn't figure out how to even properly attempt to make a collage of the Getters I have for the sake of those who were asking about their differences.

Stage 10 is where bosses have massive HP.
Your team also divided into 2,this is the 2nd time I got an Inspector boss at stage 10.
>>
>>13744895
Starting from 10, every 5th stage had a boss fight against one of the Inspectors (they're randomized every playthrough, but you can't switch them by restarting that mission). Haven't finished Cross yet, but I suppose the final boss is Wendolo.

Incidentally, it's around this time that bosses stop running away at 50% HP.
>>
>>13744875
>>13744888
Huh, never knew about that.

>>13744895
>>13744910
Yeah, the final stage is actually a gauntlet of around 30 of your guys vs. a whole host of boss-level enemies as the mooks, plus the Inspectors you've fought before, all at once. Once you strike down Mekiboss, everything goes to space (with no recovery on your part, of course), and you have to deal with Wendolo, Shu, and Irui Ganeden all at once.

(And you have to beat Irui to win, smacking down someone while she's around results in an instant full recovery for them.)
>>
>>13744521
Anyone using his brain could tell it was a plot to sell more copies.
In my opinion the main problem with SRW is that most of the fans are genuine kids or act like kids. Then because most of the fans are like that, they brag about the series, and it has been mystified and made to be look like as if it's super complicated and convoluted "you'll never get it unless you're into Japanese things for 20 years" kind of thing. That's also why the fanbase doesn't grow in numbers, and there isn't any individuals or small groups of really big rich neets with time to waste to translate the games.

Same, honestly.

BX's idea of good animation is shambling schizophrenic messes that slide around the screen at mach 10.

Wizard Nu still looks fucking great in every animation at least, even if you dislike the SD group's animations. Gigafan's one of my favorites in the game.

>>13745794

If you mean 2nd OGs, that has the excuse of being made before.

It's just that the proportions have changed. Focus was usually placed on making the parts as "forearms, legs, feet, head, torso+waist, maybe shoulders". Now it's "forearms, shoulders, biceps, legs, thighs, feet, head, torso, waist."
>>
>>13745779
And they're all the worse for it.

It's pretty obvious true SD is where their talents and skills lie.
