I knew it was never confirmed, but I always thought Soushi was supposed to be somehow immune or at least have a higher tolerance against assimilation, what with the entirely Festum-made body and all.

Soushi didn't fully bond with Nicht's core like Idun did, so he's subject to his current body being assimilated until he and Nicht become one.
In addition, Nicht never had any limiters placed on it like Sein did prior to it being sealed; so it evolved all that time while idle and is even more aggressive with attempting to fuse with its pilot.
Remember, it's self-aware, but still cannot act without a pilot. If it merges with Soushi, it can effectively become a sentient mecha Festum. Soushi's own body makeup and will is what's keeping Nicht playing nice.
Ironically though, Sein's assimilation is apparently becoming more violent; for all that she's supposed to represent Existence. She wants Kazuki for herself; and is claiming entire appendages.

That's what was happening to Soushi when he tried to pilot the Nothung model as a test pilot.
In fact, it would have killed him from rupturing due to the fact that his eye was already in a bad state due to Festum contamination.
Remember that even though the Nothung models greatly reduced the strain on the pilots vs the Titans, it still quickly caused Kuramae's eyes to become permanently red; severe signs of clear crystallization.
Just imagine if Soushi really forced them to let him pilot back then; he'd have blown out his eye just as violently.

I always assumed he couldn't properly interface with the Fafner because his injury messed with the mental link. Soushi's image of himself included a damaged eye, while the Fafner was perfectly fine, the two don't line up.
But assimilation does make some sense, with a weak spot like that.
I kinda teared up on Exodus party getting news about rendezvous with D-Island. That phrase about "I don't have other explanations", how they're unaware about Canon's silent sacrifice for that info.
Y'know, no one in island or otherwise really know how many dead futures Canon fought against? I mean, she just dived and dived, but no one know what or how many times she fought. Alone. And then she just silently disappears.
So did Kouyou kill the Azazel-type or just make it retreat? Because if the former, then Soushi's group could probably use his help right now.

The Azazel types are defined as Mir/Festum hybrids created from the remains of Polaris so Misao does count as one. I think each of the Azazel types is fairly different mentally and physically on account of being more self aware than previous Mir. If you noticed each Azazel has a unique Festum type it produces too, for example Roadrunner makes the Diablo Types.

I feel the opposite. I really like the crystal colors - green, red and purple, like the crystal trees in the keel block. It makes the festum and mir stuff feel a lot more distant from the human characters.

If you meant the equipment itself, yeah, I'm inclined to agree that they'd just get assimilated/sludged/crystallized. Tomatsu says that Nicht assimilates any equipment the islanders have.

Not seeing that conclusion at all. Roadrunner (Type B, pic rel) showed up before Walker did, or did you forget episode 1? And we know that map was presented after Aviator was summoned to eradicate Argos, but they already knew About Clowler before the big battle royale got set up.

The Azazel Types were active SINCE Polaris was destroyed.
Roadrunner suddenly didn't come into existence at the start of episode 1 of Exodus. It was just Jonathan's first encounter with it, which was why he was shocked. The higher ups in NUNS don't seem the most sparing with information to those below them.
I'm presenting the timeline in which the Nuns became aware of each one you dingus. There's no reason to have them be lettered in this way besides when they were encountered.
Walker was likely sighted first because it's territory is the biggest. Then Roadrunner and Aviator. They then likely became aware of Spy and then Floater and Crawler.
Fucking Misao even mentions suppressing all aggressive elements in both the Human and Festum groups as Floaters big plan in HaE.
And since you seem to have critical thinking problems : floating can refer to both the air and the sea. Floater was STILL floating back when it was just a regular ship.

I'm pretty sure that there's material the explains when they came out. It's in Japanese though. I remember it being posted back when Exodus first strated. That material also told us there were 6 Azazel types not counting Ashoka and D-Island and there ended up being 6.

True enough, I'll give you Floater. Which means that it's charade of being a giant silly flying saucer only came about after HaE. That still proves it existed after the destruction of Polaris and the Azazel types were existant in at least some form between DA and Exodus.

This isn't an unexplained one though. The general labeling of Festum is you give an overall name for a certain type of Festum, and then you start going down the alphabet as variants appear. It's evidenced in the naming conventions between the Sphinx types.
So it's more than a guess that the Azazels appeared in the order that there label was given.
With Walker being the first, followed by Roadrunner, Aviator, Spy, Misao's Mir pretending to be a silly flying saucer that can was relabeled Floater, and Crawler.

Azazels are just big Festum that use the whole Mir as their cores. Unlike say a Sphinx, which just uses something which I guess is like a tiny shaving of Mir.

Well shit, here's what I get for sleeping during the day. I'm the guy that brought it up in the first place, and seriously, thanks a ton for the generosity anon.
I think it'd be good to get some sort of style guide agreed upon for articles once things are set up, but for now it probably is best just to load it with info. Just simple stuff for consistency, name order, "Don't put a relationship section on character pages like some wikia wiki", etc.
But man seriously, this is great. Gonna be a bit of a learning curve, but with even a few of us this has some real potential.

I absolutely adore Exodus as it is, AOTY for me, but sometimes it feels like it focuses too much on the plot most of the time and not enough on the characters. I wish there was more character interaction like DA had.

I dunno, I really liked that they started off with the first 5 episodes of mostly introducing the new characters. It was the opposite of DA which did it at the end. When I rewatched H&E, on the other hand, it was funny how fast paced it was; every scene felt like it had a death flag for somebody.

I think spoilers will be a bridge to cross once we get to it, but there are probably ways to make it work. Have separate titled sections for each appearance(DA, H&E, etc) on character pages, and using DA shots as the main image would probably help a lot.
I think I'll try to make a character page and just see how things work, to test it out. It'll be an ongoing process for sure, so we'll just see what sticks.
