mason and dixon wasn't good until the last transit.

I've never ever had this happen. I give every book 100 pages. I've never had the first eighty be boring trash and then suddenly the author learns how to write. Suddenly stops trying to be self-indulgent and self-aware. Suddenly stops trying so pathetically hard to force in big words and math/science concepts. Suddenly shows a sensitivity to other people that was conspicuously absent from any of the characters.
