You can enjoy it. I know you can. I put off reading it for years because people on this site scared me with their memery and I finally read it this month, and it's the most fun I've had with a book in years.
like sure all the science-y bits in gravity's rainbow are kind of hard to understand but really its a book of avant-garde comedy. the part where they hurl pies in the sky, the banana breakfast, the ship comprised of toilets, etc.
