At a professional development seminar today, one of the people leading it pronounced it "go-thee" with the second syllable pronounced like the beginning of the word "thief". This person is also an assistant principal in my school district. I mean, I don't expect people to pronounce it perfectly like a native German speaker would, but that was just awful.
