What books, if read, will help me to enter the United States Northeast social elite?

Memes aside:
>high school assigned books
>SAT study guide
>fraternity/secret society initiation book
>Ivy League/MIT assigned books
>LSAT/GMAT/MCAT study books
and so on. Nothing's perfect, but elite higher education is the fast track to what you're talking about. Just be sure to make friends while you're there.
To stay in the elite Northeast set is a long filter because most of your opportunities for graduate education or first jobs can take you from that scene.

Any advice on how to break in for an outsider?

Do exactly what they tell you to do to get into the best university you can, and then be a cool guy there while also making good grades and working internships. Then keep up that record for a decade or so of further education and entry-level employment. It's really that straightforward, but it's hard as fuck unless your parents are SUPER influential and even then there are limits to what you can do if you don't earn credentials yourself.
