Do you guys enjoy Charles Bukowski? I really like how he's kind of a scumbag and hopeless, but at the same time kind of friendly and comfortable

what did he even write which is notable
everybody always speak how he is like a hobo or something like that instead of discussing hios works

Some book called Ham and Cheese or something, idk
Most of his poetry his highly enjoyable. His fiction is not bad either, although it can be repetitive thematically and stylistically.
That poem Bluebird made me cry when i was in rehab.
Comfy levels too high https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07WfDVN1asc

Yes. Charles is good, especially when you're feeling like shit. He kinda lifts you up.
Not a big fan of his novels but poetry is above the mark.
I prefer what I've read of Jim Harrison, honestly.

Me.
They're pretty similar, but I just dig Harrison's vibe better.

In terms of novels he's written Ham on Rye, Women, Post Office, and Factotum. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Like the other anons said, his novels can get a bit repetitive thematically (I liked Ham on Rye because he talked about Chinaski's childhood in it). In terms of poetry he's written a lot and it's pretty amazing.
The ICP of literature
I read Pulp a few months ago to see what all the fuss was about and I was thoroughly unimpressed. Maybe I should give his poetry a chance...
