I was trying to create a comedy plot (for a play) about Pharmaceuticals companies and some of their products, but I am having a hard time thinking in something.

One of my ideas was that a young and ambitious doctor discovers a pill that cures phobias (not only relieve them, like the drugs of today: it would be some sort of wonder drug), and the comedy would be made with her interactions, tests and exams with a "Phobic Patrol", a group of phobic patients that are testing the drug.

I don’t think this is a very good idea, and I am not very sure how I can develop it more. I was wondering if any of you people could offer me some ideas, if you eventually imagine something and don’t plan to use it: I would like alms to a beggar; if you have some spare change and could give me I would be forever grateful.

i had an idea about a company that sells corporate ideologies to brainwash people with. One character was going to work for a company that sells those laundry detergent capsules that have detergent and powder in them and write something called the 'critique of pure detergent'. If you think this doesn't sound awful you can steal it.

antidepressants cure phobias
tranquillizers briefly relieve them

also

>a young and ambitious doctor
>her

into the trash it goes

No, they dont. I know this because of myself and lots of people in online foruns, and also from books on the subject. Medication helps, but it dosent cure it. It helps you to help yourself.

Listen to Jello Biafra speak about Big Pharma. He's an alt-media goofball, but he can be pretty funny.

Also, bail on stupid pomo nonsense. Just tell a straight forward story about something reasonable. Read Dickens if you need to see how cleverness is best used as a flavor, not a main dish.

haven't you read molier's 'the imaginary invalid' in the high school after all

You have to make the drug funny imo. Like you get harder boners but theres a side effect of explosive diarrhea which the company is trying to keep under wraps

And as in harder boners like Viagra on steroids. Pulsatingly blue erections

Can you say more about this?

Bleak House especially is a wickedly clever satire of the Chancery court that relied on none of the Zadie Smith, DFW gimmicky nonsense. The legal institutions of England were preposterous enough that a normal person's experience there would satisfy all comedic and dramatic demands.

A doctor inventing a normal drug would likely find himself subject to such a tempest of absurdities that no writer need to add to it.

Also, reading Dickens is just good advice.

I watched the movie called prozac nation. It was just a woman that goes crazy to her boyfriend and becomes stalker and then has to take medicine so she can learn to do her job properly again.

You know what...this is indeed a wonderful advise. You know your art.

A pill that makes you like other people. The catch is that it constantly releases chemicals from your pores, actually changing the people to suit your needs. "It's more cost-effective".

A pill that makes you develop a psychological disorder, as lacking one is a big stigma in society.

A pill that cures your fear of death oh shit
