Why aren't there any good Philosophers born in the 20th century?
There is.
There is.
>philosophers
>good or bad
how can they be one or the other? philosophy is just mental masturbation considering it's all subjective. anything you debate with objectivity =/= philosophy
>>7940473
Philosophy needs it's own internal metaphysics with a logic that doesn't contradict reality. Sure it deals in things that can't be tested, but so does theoretical math doesn't it?

>inb4 """"philosopher"""
>>7941272
At least with Socrates it's easy to prove him wrong or right; with these faggots any opinion is as good as another. Very postmodern but not very wise.

All these fellas only lend support to OP's claim. They're just obscure, self-important, fuckers trying to sound deep. Most of them in reality said almost nothing, or simply tried too hard to sound original and brilliant without actually engaging in rigorous intellectual deliberation, and as such only said very little (as opposed to simply nothing).
Most of the good philosophers were analytic philosophers. E.g. WITTGENSTEIN, KRIPKE, Quine, A.J. AYER, JOHN SEARLE, CHOMSKY, RICHARD MONTAGUE, GEORGE LAKOFF, Alfred Korzybski (arguably not analytic, but he doesn't really fit into a category).
Besides them, there was still a large number of great continentals, and there were a few sociologists/anthropologists that were basically philosophers. E.g. Jurgen Habermas, MERLEAU-PONTY, MARY DOUGLAS, PETER BERGER, THOMAS LUCKMANN, Durkheim, Simmel, Sartre, Husserl, Heidegger, Louis Hjelmslev, etc.
Capital letters are used to indicate philosophers that I personally really like (obviously there are quite a few).

holy fucking shit man. zizek actually fucking wrote that. I always thought this image was a dig/joke at the absurd abstractions and conclusions that philosophers arrive at but this is fucking real.
is this why he is considered top based here?
>>7941550
>CHOMSKY
Lol
>>7940349
Why are you an idiot?
>>7941654
what do you consider incorrect about this quote?
born 1900 8^)
>>7943293
not incorrect. just pointless. I don't see how fist-fucking as something significant that reflects anything about the 21st century. You replaced your genitals with your fingers/fist. so? what is the point he's trying to make here? that the 21st century person is more sexually liberated?
>>7943837
That we should smash the patriarchy with our fists, one man fist fucked at a time.

>>7940946
Would you care/be interested if somebody understood the nature of reality, society, etc many years (possibly hundreds) before it was proven by science? It's mental masturbation but its fun, just like physical masturbation.
>>7940819
that's the joke

this, all of them are fucking stupid.
Camus is really good tho. Zizek is interesting, even if I don't really consider him a "philosopher".
>>7944703
Camus isnt good
>no justifications for anything he said
>essentially got big because france wanted to go back to having a normal culture after WW2 ended

>no justifications for anything he said
... Of course yes. Did you even read Sisyphus?
And that Sisyphus famous quote is interesting. I don't think he's such a great philosopher but I must admit his work is very interesting.
>>7944709
>he doesn't justify anything
please justify YOUR claims then! and not with >muh

But there is

>>7941620
He's the only really good one.
Analytic philosophers are good but they're trying to describe a very specific thing.
Foucault has a lot of ideas for many of the important aspects of society and so much of what he said is true.
