eh. was interesting in the beginning. then the pacing is terrible throughout much of the book then it gets really interesting a the end if you can make it that far.

I actually liked the book, but I have to agree that the pacing was poor. It will probably bore the fuck out of her, but she's a huge cat freak, so when I mentioned there is a book with cat as a main character she immediately wanted to borrow it. Still hope it will work out, she's the first girl with any interest in serious literature and art I've met in my life

botchan is lots of fun. that's a great first soseki novel. try sanshiro. it's one of my favorite coming of age novels.
